As a matter of fact, I went through a similar situation with someone I was close to a while back.

His case is a fairly complicated one, but I don't think it's impossible someone could maintain those memories, either partially or completely.

He certainly did loose his memories of me, however his feelings seem to still be in tact.

So he knew I was someone important to him, but not why.

sounds like it must be a tough situation to deal with

i suppose having feelings is better than forgtting evrything though

isn't it harder to rebuild that kind of connection than make new memories?

[ To him it seems harder at least, precisely because he has a hard time forming emotional bonds or being honest about how he feels. ]
