[Lio had never really used the video feature on his phone before, but he figured this was probably the best way to showcase his, uh, problem.
So he was laying down, with his phone pointed down at his face, and he looked absolutely miserable. His face was bright red, dark circles under his eyes, and his hair was stuck to his forehead with sweat. Anyone could tell just by looking at him that he had a nasty looking fever.]
Hey. [He swallowed, his mouth dry and his voice all nasally.] Something's wrong. I'm somehow burning hot and freezing cold at the same time, and I can't breath through my nose. I thought I was just tired this morning but it's getting worse. I think I might be dying.
[Of course, in actuality, Lio Fotia had gotten sick for the first time since childhood, and he didn't know what was going on. Galo was out at the moment, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered with a network post and would have just grabbed him, but being slightly delirious, this was his next best idea.]

[It took Lio a moment in his delirious state to recognize the username, but a little lightbulb went off after staring for a bit.]
Oh, Jean?
[Lio debated switching to text to match Jean, but every joint in his body ached, including his thumbs, and he just wasn't feeling up to texting. So video it was, with a confused and disgruntled expression.]
You've gotta be kidding me... why the hell do they call it a cold if my skin feels like it's on fire? [And then he shuddered, rubbing one arm.] And why am I shivering if my skin's on fire? Is that supposed to happen??

Hi again. Is this easier?
[He rubbed at the back of his head.]
I think it was named by people who though you got sick just by getting cold... Anyway, it sounds like you have a fever. That's your body heating up to try and fight off the infection.
I've had to look after my sister when she's been sick, so... I'll stop by a shop and grab some medicine. You should rest and try to drink some water in the mean time.

[Yeah, it's Jean. Good. He felt a lot more comfortable talking about this with someone he actually knew.
Lio groaned, twisting his head sideways to bury it halfway against his pillow.]
What a stupid name... is this what non-burnish have to deal with every time they get too cold??
[Sniffle.]
Water... ugh, I don't think I can even get up. And Galo isn't home...

[The picture on screen jostles a bit as Jean heads for the door and slips his shoes on.]
It's not actually from getting cold. It's just a virus...
Um, just rest then. I'll pick up a few things and come over. Um... Do you have a favorite sort of soup? It'll just be from a can.

[Lio wasn't totally oblivious to how illness worked - he'd just never experienced it before, in himself or in any of his burnish communities.]
How did this happen... [It wasn't really a question for Jean so much as himself.] Ugh, you're really coming over? I guess, anything with chicken. Anything spicy.

Hmm, I'll look for spicy soup, but you may have to settle for regular soup with hot sauce.
If you don't want me to come in, I can just leave the stuff outside your door.
[Really, it wouldn't be surprising if Lio was too tired for company. Jean wouldn't be surprised if Lio didn't know him well enough to be that comfortable around him yet, anyway.]

[If so, he was honestly thankful this had happened now, when he had stable housing and a loving partner, and not back home, where he was living out of a fire station's bunk room.]
Mmn, I have hot sauce, so I'm fine with pretty much anything. I might be able to manage getting the door, but you probably shouldn't come in. I haven't cleaned. [The thought of cleaning up for company right now honestly seemed unbearable.] Galo won't be gone too long, anyway, so... unless I need immediate medical attention, there probably isn't going to be much for you to do.
