So, it turns out that something hilarious can happen here if you decide to celebrate your birthday here based on "how long you've been alive" instead of just what the calendar date says because the month was different back home when you first got pulled into a different world.

So yep, forgot my eighteenth birthday was on Monday. Which is dumb, because I remembered last year's, but apparently I put the reminder on this thing wrong and it didn't repeat it this year.

But anyway, enough about me being dumb about my birthday, being here for two of them made me think of something.

Just how many of us who are here have actually been here for over a year? I mean, I know there's some of us, but I don't think many of us have mentioned it before.

And... well... is anyone else here not sure what they'd do if they were given a choice about going home, instead of just vanishing and showing up back there?

[She meant that last question more for those of them who have been here a while, but really there's no reason to limit it to just them. There's probably plenty of reasons that someone who just got here would want to stay rather than go home, after all. ]

Huh, arrived almost at the same time then. Even if a lot can happen in a month here.

Oh yeah, it'd be amazing to see my parents and friends and people, who are like family to me... Though having my girlfriend and our best animal friend here missing them too much. I'm glad you have your boyfriend and more friends here, those help a lot! And I guess I am from a good point back home but it's going to get really bad very soon, so uh, yeah not really interested in going back to that anytime soon.

Yeah. Huh. I wonder if we ran into each other before last month's dig.

Yeah, I'm glad that he's here too. We actually got together here rather than back home, but I'm pretty sure that was only a matter of time.

But yeah, I can see why you don't want to deal with anything that'd be bad. Generally when bad things happen back in my world it's of the terrible, possibly world ending variety. Though I don't think we have anything to worry about with that in the near future. Especially if time stands still for us while we're here.

Did you arrive here in the middle of something that was going to lead to the bad stuff, or did someone from further along tell you about it?

Ha, so you're like me and my girlfriend. Apparently it's a matter of time for us back home too since she's from my future.

We have that in common, the bad things being possiby the world ending variety levels of bad. Yeah, I'm not worried about things happening while I'm here because of that time standing still thing.

I was having a fun reunion with my friends, my dad and some other people there. But we're also in the middle of four insane lunatics trying to kill me and my girlfriend told me all about how future goes... I guess I'll want to deal with all of that, eventually, not sure I'd choose to go there righ now if I had the choice. It's complicated. Even if I'm usually always like "Let's do this!"

Well, he's not from my future, but knowing how we both feel about each other I couldn't see us not getting together back home.

I mean, there's definitely smaller scale bad stuff at home too, but anything that's bad enough to be notable in the group I've found myself in now is, well, what I said already. And it sucks for me because there's absolutely nothing I can do to help in the actual fighting. Anything that's a threat is too far above me for me to even think of going anywhere near it.

I really don't blame you for not wanting to deal with that stuff right now, even if it isn't like you. Even if you know you're going to be able to deal with it or at least that it'll turn out okay, that still doesn't mean it's not going to be difficult.
