So, it turns out that something hilarious can happen here if you decide to celebrate your birthday here based on "how long you've been alive" instead of just what the calendar date says because the month was different back home when you first got pulled into a different world.

So yep, forgot my eighteenth birthday was on Monday. Which is dumb, because I remembered last year's, but apparently I put the reminder on this thing wrong and it didn't repeat it this year.

But anyway, enough about me being dumb about my birthday, being here for two of them made me think of something.

Just how many of us who are here have actually been here for over a year? I mean, I know there's some of us, but I don't think many of us have mentioned it before.

And... well... is anyone else here not sure what they'd do if they were given a choice about going home, instead of just vanishing and showing up back there?

[She meant that last question more for those of them who have been here a while, but really there's no reason to limit it to just them. There's probably plenty of reasons that someone who just got here would want to stay rather than go home, after all. ]

I'm not sure what I would do either! There's pros and cons to both being back in my world and here, but I think right now I'm very okay with being here!

And yeah, that's really the issue. I really don't want to leave everyone that I know here, but at the same time I feel a little bad for not just wanting to go home and see my Dad again. And the couple of friends I have there.

[ It's... well, honestly a bit of a shock to realize that she might be happier here than back home.]

Yeah that's understandable!
Maybe a better situation would be if we were able to go back to our world and come back here whenever we wanted.
So we can have both!
I know it can't happen but it'd be neat!

Yeah, that'd be the best option for sure.

Of course, you're right about the chances of it happening being not all that great. Especially with what the people who have gone home and come back says happen to us.

... Though I guess if the government figured something out the rules might be different? I'm not exactly an expert on how the physics of going between worlds works.

It's super weird!
I've known people who have come and gone, and return again with memories of this place and some without.
So it's not the same for everyone, which makes it confusing because you don't know which you'll get.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.

I'm sure there's some weird alternate world/alternate timeline thing going on in those cases where people don't remember, but again, it's not like I have any idea for sure.

The stuff I like best always seems to taste better on birthdays!

Maybe a small cake will work.

I definitely hear you on the birthday meal, but getting a large cake doesn't seem worth it if it's just me and maybe one or two other people celebrating. [ Just because Gohan could probably down like, six full sized cakes doesn't mean she was going to get a giant one.]

Cupcake or a favorite pastry from a cafe would work too!
It's all about what will bring you most joy!
