Today I'll be starting a new program called Sally Night Live. This program will allow you to listen to some music throughout your evening as well as ask me a few questions over the air. Feel free to respond to this broadcast anonymously or with a pen name. We also do take song requests for future programs that we'll be airing once a month, so make sure you send those in!

Let's just say it's a little bit of both.

[There's a bit of an amused lilt in her voice as she giggles a little lightly.

She does keep her voice energetic, however.]

It is a pretty old song, but I'm certain there's a good amount of people who haven't heard of it. But an 'act', huh... I assume you're talking about an actual performance than someone 'putting up an act', right?

I think there's a lot of factors, actually! How much effort does someone put into it is probably a huge one, though. If you do things half-hearted... then it's kind of sad, isn't it? [You can hear something apologetic there, for sure. It's sincere.] But there's also a 'uniqueness' factor that you need as well. If you're not memorable, that's no good! You want to have an act that people - both yourself and your fans alike can always remember.

That's what I personally think, anyway.

Ufufu... Well, there's a lot that goes into every performer or group. Some people say it's all about talent or dedication or even marketing, and sure, all of those go a long way toward success, but I don't think they make someone special. The thing I think is most important is if they're having fun. All the other stuff will come more easily then anyway, but more importantly... if you're not happy, your audience is going to notice, and then they'll fade away. Then you won't have anything.

Mmm...

[There's the light sound of a pencil tapping in the background as she hums in contemplation.]

I think being happy is important, sure - it's something that will make things easier for you to do something you love.

[She sighs a little, her voice cooling off.]

But- if it were that easy, then every single person who is happy, who is having fun would be successful. As much as I would wish for things to be like that, I'm aware reality isn't entirely so kind.

[There's a clap of her hands, before continuing-] Not that I'd really know too much about that sort of thing! I'm just a simple radio personality, after all.

[That much is true, at least.]

That's true enough. It's a lot of hard work, and sometimes even that's not enough. I just think that, between someone who's technically perfect but doesn't let themselves smile or relax and someone who makes a few mistakes but whose performance feeds energy into the crowd, I think I'd rather have the latter represent what I'm about.

Let me tell you a little something: [this isn't a secret, but her voice lowers a little bit to a hushed whisper, but it's clearly audible enough for the microphone she's using to pick up.] I personally don't believe in 'perfection'.

It just doesn't exist. People are prone to make mistakes. Whether it's shoved under the rug or not is another story, but... I believe that is simply something that happens in the entertainment business. I think both ways are valid, though - and I would argue that both ways might even be necessary for society.

Although I could say that the former just sounds pretty depressing, ahaha.

It sounds like you're already ahead. A lot of people think that if they just work hard enough, and sometimes if they throw everything away in pursuit of perfection, they'll find success. And yes, it'll help you get better to a point, but the audience can tell your feelings, too. Success by that measure is kind of like a miracle, you know? And it takes a lot of work from a lot of people to make it come true.

You think so?

[There's a genuine sheepishness to her voice in spite of knowing how slightly 'fake' she is.]

A miracle, huh... that's true, isn't it? But I think both are important! You need dedication and hard work! But you also~ need~ to have fun with things!

[Because while Sally might not be 'real', that doesn't mean that she's entirely manufactured. That isn't the point of her existence.]

Of course! You need both, because even if no one discovers you, it's more important to get fun than get rich and famous. I know I took a while to figure that out.

There have been way too many cases of people being sad just simply because they had money.

[And she never wants to become the kind of person that becomes rich and winds up depressed.]

Which seems a little strange if you don't have money, but I guess things aren't great for everyone...

They are not indeed.

Well, especially in a place like this, am I right?

Some people might say this place makes it easier, but it's tough to adapt. And with how our societies are compared to here, a lot of people wouldn't really want to, either... Ahaha, I'm going on a depressing tangent, aren't I? But it is difficult to try and find a balance.

It's fine, it's fine~! Sometimes you gotta let it out, you know?

[Depressing or not, at least it's honest.]

It's all different for everyone, so I can't judge.

Ufufu. I guess that's true, isn't it? At least we can also work, though we do still need the physical contact for ourselves sometimes. Or a lot, I guess, depending on how nice your moon is to you. I feel bad for a lot of these people.

It is... ah, and it can be difficult for people that are in certain cycles, I know. So I definitely get it.

In that vein, I guess it's just as unfair as our own worlds, where some people are thriving and feel like they're free but other people are struggling and can't stand it. But that's a little too depressing, too, huh? I do want to thank you for your input! If it does turn out that all this music business always being important isn't a coincidence, then it's a good thing if everyone knows their feelings on it.

Well, my thoughts are mostly based off of things in my world rather than any actual research on how the industry works here, so please take my personal opinion with a grain of salt. I'm not an expert, after all!

Although I would say to definitely get another opinion since others might have a better insight than myself.
