Today I'll be starting a new program called Sally Night Live. This program will allow you to listen to some music throughout your evening as well as ask me a few questions over the air. Feel free to respond to this broadcast anonymously or with a pen name. We also do take song requests for future programs that we'll be airing once a month, so make sure you send those in!

I can't tell if that's sincere or just that old joke about the song. [laughs] But it's definitely nostalgic! As far as a question goes, while we're on the subject of music, what do you think makes an act special? I've got my own answer, but I always like to hear others'.

Let's just say it's a little bit of both.

[There's a bit of an amused lilt in her voice as she giggles a little lightly.

She does keep her voice energetic, however.]

It is a pretty old song, but I'm certain there's a good amount of people who haven't heard of it. But an 'act', huh... I assume you're talking about an actual performance than someone 'putting up an act', right?

I think there's a lot of factors, actually! How much effort does someone put into it is probably a huge one, though. If you do things half-hearted... then it's kind of sad, isn't it? [You can hear something apologetic there, for sure. It's sincere.] But there's also a 'uniqueness' factor that you need as well. If you're not memorable, that's no good! You want to have an act that people - both yourself and your fans alike can always remember.

That's what I personally think, anyway.

That being unsaid, he does like this interesting new song playing. It's clearly ahead of his time... Revolutionary, even. At least the program allows people to reply anonymously. ]

Excuse me for using text, I'm not too comfortable with having my voice heard on a public broadcast. Still, as someone from the 19th century I can't help but be curious about what sort of music you plan to generally play. It's rather nice, for the record.

Ufufu... Well, there's a lot that goes into every performer or group. Some people say it's all about talent or dedication or even marketing, and sure, all of those go a long way toward success, but I don't think they make someone special. The thing I think is most important is if they're having fun. All the other stuff will come more easily then anyway, but more importantly... if you're not happy, your audience is going to notice, and then they'll fade away. Then you won't have anything.

Don't worry about that at all, it's totally fine. But what kind of music...? Well, I plan on making it varied, since we'll be having requests from our fellow Moonblessed. My plans are to currently spread that variety throughout the entire planet.

After all, if the locals can share their boy bands, we should always return the favor! I know there's a lot of idols around, but idols tend to have a particular 'style' that isn't covered in all types of music.

But thank you very much for appreciating the choice in tonight's music. We'll be playing some more tunes after this section as well, so make sure you stick around, okay?

[There's the light sound of a pencil tapping in the background as she hums in contemplation.]

I think being happy is important, sure - it's something that will make things easier for you to do something you love.

[She sighs a little, her voice cooling off.]

But- if it were that easy, then every single person who is happy, who is having fun would be successful. As much as I would wish for things to be like that, I'm aware reality isn't entirely so kind.

[There's a clap of her hands, before continuing-] Not that I'd really know too much about that sort of thing! I'm just a simple radio personality, after all.

[That much is true, at least.]

That's true enough. It's a lot of hard work, and sometimes even that's not enough. I just think that, between someone who's technically perfect but doesn't let themselves smile or relax and someone who makes a few mistakes but whose performance feeds energy into the crowd, I think I'd rather have the latter represent what I'm about.

Let me tell you a little something: [this isn't a secret, but her voice lowers a little bit to a hushed whisper, but it's clearly audible enough for the microphone she's using to pick up.] I personally don't believe in 'perfection'.

It just doesn't exist. People are prone to make mistakes. Whether it's shoved under the rug or not is another story, but... I believe that is simply something that happens in the entertainment business. I think both ways are valid, though - and I would argue that both ways might even be necessary for society.

Although I could say that the former just sounds pretty depressing, ahaha.

It sounds like you're already ahead. A lot of people think that if they just work hard enough, and sometimes if they throw everything away in pursuit of perfection, they'll find success. And yes, it'll help you get better to a point, but the audience can tell your feelings, too. Success by that measure is kind of like a miracle, you know? And it takes a lot of work from a lot of people to make it come true.

Of course! I might not be familiar with idols, but I'm glad to have more variety in my life.

But more people use the network than the radio, don't they? Besides, it's much easier to receive anonymous responses this way.

And it's not as if I have the money to start my own radio broadcasting studio! I'm just one person.

Oh, hey, this'll be fun to put on durin' the dinner rush at the grill. But uh, this is probably gonna be a dumb question. See I didn't get to use the internet much back home, so most'a what I know came to me through friends. What is the deal with that song? Anytime someone even mentions it they get all groany like it's terrible but it doesn't sound terrible?

You could apply at a radio station as a DJ. Find sponsors, and then start your show.

Well, it's more like... how do I say it? You know how when people do something quite often that you get tired of all of those people doing it? That's the general feeling people get whenever the song gets played. Like, 'ah, not this again'...

[There's a genuine sheepishness to her voice in spite of knowing how slightly 'fake' she is.]

A miracle, huh... that's true, isn't it? But I think both are important! You need dedication and hard work! But you also~ need~ to have fun with things!

[Because while Sally might not be 'real', that doesn't mean that she's entirely manufactured. That isn't the point of her existence.]

It might not be in other worlds, but I'd like to say it's pretty out of date in my own. I'mm not saying it doesn't exist back home, but rather... podcasts and playlists?

[She sighs a little melodramatically, almost put out, but not exactly angry or anything; just neutral.]

I do take critique outside of that, though!

Although I'll have to research radio stuff here if there's any here or if they're even any popular...

Of course! You need both, because even if no one discovers you, it's more important to get fun than get rich and famous. I know I took a while to figure that out.

I'd like to think they are. Although now I feel as if I'm the only one who listens to the radio.

Ooooooh. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. I think I did that to my brother once. I kept playin' the same tape over and over again 'cause it was the only one I had and one'a the ladies who went to the church gave me a used stereo for my birthday. Yukio almost broke the thing he got so pissed off. Honestly I got tired of it too, but the radio didn't work...

There have been way too many cases of people being sad just simply because they had money.

[And she never wants to become the kind of person that becomes rich and winds up depressed.]

Some people identify songs by memorizing the lyrics... especially since some songs tend to have their title in them, you see?
