It's a pretty mixed bag. I was in the army and some of the scars I received were from defending my comrades. Most were the result of some unfortunate circumstances and or bad life choices. I won't deny that they're part of who I am but, I do understand that people feel uncomfortable when they see them. Especially the grizzlier ones.
