Though I did make it clear I do not intend to join any churches or orders, or anything like that.

Are those wings some sort of associated symbol? I met another man with them or something similar.

That's an interesting title. False Angels, that is. I'm sure there's a complex story for it. I've never heard of organizations calling themselves False Angels, they usually simply falsely claim they're real angels.

[ yes, dextera does recognize the irony in talking to ryo about this, of all people, but he’s going to keep it to himself. while his memories of ryo haven’t changed, he understands that he’s practically starting from scratch, and scaring him off isn’t going to do dextera any favors.

this is probably not a stellar early impression, though. ]

Angels don’t exist in our world. We’ve proven that much.

Not even in mythology or stories? They're a part of a lot of religious stories where I'm from.

They’re in stories. Our worlds share all the same religious texts, as far as I know.

[ nothing ryo has ever said has given dextera the indication that their worlds are extremely different, not compared to the differences that he’s found in others. isolated from all other comparisons, though, demons and angels are a pretty big deal. ]

But… they’re just stories. Our God never had any help.

Ah, is that so? Often, the idea of angels and God go hand in hand. And there are many who don't believe. But where I'm from, there's no proof of either, so there's many who don't believe.

[ dextera thinks ryo has to believe. maybe even before any indication within himself… well, he doesn’t know. he shouldn’t assume, and he can’t. constantly he reminds himself of this. ]

The Order was originally devoted to proving the existence of a god. Any god would do… and the one we found was a bit surprising. I was only about six years old when She was discovered.

Any god? Interesting, though. People can go a lifetime without legitimately finding god in the way you're describing.

I… [ well, dextera hesitates then, afraid to reveal too much. he takes a moment to consider what he’s going to say, and tries again. ] I think the Order expected never to find Her. Everything changed when we did.
