Greetings, fellow travelers! Or captives. Or whatever you choose to call this strange little commune we've found ourselves in.
I am Sypha, a Speaker and an adventuring scholar. I'm one of the crop of recent arrivals, so I thought it would make sense to introduce myself. Most people seem to use this board for personal advertisements and posing profound existential questions. This isn't...not that, but it's a bit of something different, too.
I'm looking for help with my scholarly pursuits, and I'd like to to learn more about this place. Specifically, how it used to be. I get the impression that very few records from that time have survived, if any at all, but if you know where to find information that could help me start to piece it all together, I would greatly appreciate the assistance from our city elders. 😉
If you don't have knowledge of primary sources, I'll also gladly listen to any local legends you might have heard. Strange as it seems, there may well be a grain of truth hidden in every off-the-wall story. Heck, if you have any boogeymen from your own worlds you're eager to chat about, I suppose I can listen to those stories, too! Not that studying can't be exciting, but it'd be nice to have something else to do while I'm here.
So! Ancient history, local legends, distractions from daily chaos...or perhaps other things you think may be important! If any of those sound like something you'd know about, and you're willing to share, I'm eager to collaborate.

so you're helpful chatterboxes who are also wandering nerds

If you'd like to help me, I suppose you could start with what a roller coaster is? I get the emotions part, but I'm afraid that's more than likely past my time.
no subject
so a roller coaster is a ride people like to go on in my time
shows up for theme parks
like a permanent fair or festival people pay money to go into
it's a ride that's usually fast that goes up and down manufactured heights and lows
hang on
no subject
so people made a track and usually the roller coaster is a series of connected cars to fit multiple people
you're strapped in and the ride goes and it's usually meant for the rush of the speed
oh my god
This was...eye-opening, thank you. I think the visual aid helped? Where do I even start.
Do they have any here?
i am artiste
honestly im not sure
i never really looked
but i guess we could check huh

But I suppose it's something I can look out for on my information field trip. Roller coasters, that is. Not spontaneous street performer sex-ed, entertaining as that might be.
no subject
you would be surprised how little people know about sex in a sex-encouraged alien planet
it's very very sad
but i guess roller coasters are pretty ok too
no subject
Really? I hadn't thought to take note of it, myself.
God, if you asked me what I'd be doing last month, I sure wouldn't have said "navigating a sex-encouraged alien planet." What a time to be alive.
But I'm sorry, in any case, that your time being alive here has been a series of manufactured highs and lows. You have my sympathies.
