Greetings, fellow travelers! Or captives. Or whatever you choose to call this strange little commune we've found ourselves in.
I am Sypha, a Speaker and an adventuring scholar. I'm one of the crop of recent arrivals, so I thought it would make sense to introduce myself. Most people seem to use this board for personal advertisements and posing profound existential questions. This isn't...not that, but it's a bit of something different, too.
I'm looking for help with my scholarly pursuits, and I'd like to to learn more about this place. Specifically, how it used to be. I get the impression that very few records from that time have survived, if any at all, but if you know where to find information that could help me start to piece it all together, I would greatly appreciate the assistance from our city elders. 😉
If you don't have knowledge of primary sources, I'll also gladly listen to any local legends you might have heard. Strange as it seems, there may well be a grain of truth hidden in every off-the-wall story. Heck, if you have any boogeymen from your own worlds you're eager to chat about, I suppose I can listen to those stories, too! Not that studying can't be exciting, but it'd be nice to have something else to do while I'm here.
So! Ancient history, local legends, distractions from daily chaos...or perhaps other things you think may be important! If any of those sound like something you'd know about, and you're willing to share, I'm eager to collaborate.

I suppose you don't remember me?

Hello, Fjord.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to remember about you, so I suppose my answer is yes.
no subject
that's alright, you were the first person i ever spoke to in this realm and i always wondered what happened or where you went.
since you don't remember me, i'll reintroduce myself:
i'm fjord of the mighty nein, paladin of the wildmother :)
don't mind me just forgetting this isn't my inbox
Nothing is ringing any bells, unfortunately. But it's nice to meet you all the same.
What exactly do you claim to know about me?
i saw nothin
just that you're very smart and beautiful, and
nice
you could do magic, i think i remember that
no subject
How long ago was this? Whenever you first arrived, I mean.
no subject
why is it concerning?
no subject
Or, alternatively, you've been stalking me. I don't exactly love my options.
no subject
you were here
i was here before too, i don't remember that either but it was definitely me i'm told

This realm confounds me, but I trust you more than I doubt you, Fjord. Hopefully, this time we'll get further than introductions before one of us is dragged away from our memories.

would you like to switch this to video so we can meet each other a bit less clandestinely?

[A few moments later Sypha flickers on screen, probably dressed far more casually than how Fjord last saw her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and waving with two fingers. There's a quiet tightness to her posture, like she's waiting for some proverbial shoe to drop.]
Not that it wouldn't be fun to gossip through letters sent by alien carrier pigeons, but this is so much more convenient.

[ Fjord looks all at ease on his end, somewhere in the DNDhaus and clearly comfortable at home, just your average half-orc with a
Britishposh accent. Sypha looks relatively the same from what he remembers, although perhaps more formal and less excited. That's understandable. ]It's good to see you again.
no subject
The same to you! In a strange, backwards sort of way, but regardless, the same. And I hope you've found yourself in politer company than when we first met.
[If you'd been through what she's been through, you'd be a little less cheery yourself.]
no subject
Yes, thankfully I have some friends here from home and we've had the chance to come together. Have you met anyone you know from your world?
no subject
[And she wouldn't have it any other way. She'd be supremely lonely if she got here by herself. It's difficult being the furthest ahead of the bunch, sure, but it's hard to go into that on a very public network post. Sorry.]
It's nice, having people who understand a piece of what it must be like for you.
no subject
[ He looks thoughtful, glancing away briefly to lighten the gravity of the sentiment. ]
More than a piece, at times.
no subject
They sound like good friends. Why don't you tell me about them?
