It's been a few months since I've had a proper post, so I suppose I should introduce myself.

Hey, I'm Inaba - I've been here for over a year now, so if anybody has any questions, feel free to lay them on me. A lot of my friends left two months ago, so I guess I'm partially doing this post to get to know new people. ヽ(∀° )人( °∀)ノ

I'm also interested in hearing about Moon Knights - I think some of you guys might be some? I was thinking of potentially getting some contacts, after all.

Anyway, it's already Iris cycle, and I guess... I got a break this month. No animal ears, none of the weird traits, nothing. I didn't even get affected by the cycle at the beginning of the month either, it's kind of crazy. ヽ(°〇°)ﾉ

In the interest of getting to know new people: let's play a game, shall we?

You have two options: 1) AMA. I've been here for over a year, am decently good with computers, and currently hold a job in programming. or 2) Give me a genre, and I'll craft a 'text adventure' story for you.

1. tell me everything you know about past escape attempts.

I've heard while we are here, at home our destinies are frozen. we do not remember this place when we return home, and everything is as it was. the only exception being when people are sent back, spend some amount of time at home, then return here with their memories of this place in tact, plus all the new memories they made at home in the interim; but even if months had passed while at home, in this place they were only gone for three days. always three days. but these people are the ones who can testify firsthand that their destinies were uninterrupted upon their return. what do you know about these theories?

3. I also heard everything here... the lights and machines and stuff... is all powered by concentrated, controllable lightning inside. is this true???

1. As far as I'm aware, nobody's really tried to "escape". Unless what happened with those dimensional tears was an attempt, I can't say. Kind of hard to when you're in space. You'd have to build some sort of interdimensional travel device.

2. I can personally confirm this myself, as it's happened to me as well - at least, in regards to the 'being sent back' part. The description of what you said is pretty much on point.

3. A mixture of electricity and magic that runs on chroma slash demichroma. A lot of people's tech from back home does run on electricity, though.

how did things turn out wrt the hearing loss?

I found out what the problem is, after.

1. no one has even looked into it? there's never been an escape attempt, ever? not even plans? that's absurd! how can that be??!

2. so there's little to no concern — as far as evidence otherwise gives us, at least — about what could be going on at home without us, everything's as... stable... as it was, basically. it's like being fully immersed in a daydream almost. like living a side life. am i considering this right??

3. i see. i've never seen anything like this technology here. electricity is the small lightning right? someone also told me "magic" when he explained what cameras/photographs/videos are on this thing... something about capturing light and shadows and colors, i don't understand how that works for the moving videos, but he said "just magic" when I asked further. there is no chroma and no little lightning inside things where i'm from but we have plenty of things powered by fire, which is the basically the same. lightning is fire. i'm really curious about this.

1. I don't think it's not that people haven't looked into it. IT's just that a lot of the things regarding making an attempt to go home is... complicated, I suppose. It'd be one thing if we were in the same universe, but this is much harder.

And I think a large part is that there's a good portion of the community that would prefer to stay here than go home.

I'm still wanting to investigate on the matter a little more, even if I'm not entirely certain if I can do it on my own, since I'm plainer than most.

2. Something like that. Or that our worlds are 'frozen' - but that doesn't really entirely explain the phenomenon that happens when people are temporarily sent back without memories of this place when they return home. That's something that honestly should be researched upon, but nobody really bothers.

3. Ah, so your world is like that...

Well - actually to explain it a bit, do you know about magnets? I'm not sure what you don't know and I don't want to explain things using terminology you might not understand.

If you have things powered by fire, however, it's a little different? Since how electricity and fire is normally (where I'm from, and I believe it applies here as well, mostly) different, science-wise? At least, how they're made, chemically. There's a lot to it that would probably tkae a huge lesson in science to explain and I'm certain that books in the library might be a better bet at teaching all of this than me talking about it over text given how much there is.

What do you mean by 'text adventure'?

1. “plainer than most?” what does that mean? what do you need help with? I think it’s probably safe to say I’m not plainer than most

2. Why is everyone here so complacent?!?!! It’s infuriating since the day I got here!! What do you mean no one bothers??? WHY NOT seems like something pretty important for people to learn about but “it is what it is “ I guess OH WELL

3. thanks anyway...... I’ll research it. In my world people with strong control of fire can channel it into lightning. I think elements seem to work really differently elsewhere from what I’ve heard. I was just curious.

It's like a "create your own adventure" story.

Like I'd provide the basic outline, and then you would reply with what your character does. Like if I wrote "there is a lamp" you could reply with "I turn on the lamp" or "I pushed the lamp over", or anything like that and I'd respond to that accordingly.

Does that make sense?

Yeah.

I was a little concerned that maybe it was permanent, but it's good that it isn't.

Thoughts on finding a job here?

1. There's a good amount of people here who have powers, or are famous in some way. I'm not one of those people.

2. Honestly, there's a lot of reasons. At least for them. Some people are dead back in their home worlds, or their worlds are worse off than here so they'd much prefer to stay here. There were people theorizing that the people who were brought here were those kinds of people, but that isn't entirely the case for everyone.

For every rule there's an exception, I suppose. I'm a part of the 'exception', I guess.

But that's probably the basics of why people just... don't seem to care. You get the picture, right?

3. It's no problem! If what you research doesn't make any sense, I can try explaining it, so feel free to reach out. The saying is 'curiosity killed the cat and satisfaction brought it back', after all.

Depends on what kind of job, and who you're working with.

My current job is pretty relaxed since I don't really do much, but the other person I'm going to be working for is a friend of mine, so it's not too bad, for example. And I'm probably picking up a third job on top of that probably by November, but that's more of an early birthday present to myself than anything else.

1. I am one of those people on both accounts. what can I do?? I'm not comfortable sitting idly back acting like I'm useless

2. I understand at home it's worse for many people

technically it's far worse at home for me, too. I'm not returning to a peaceful complacent life like I have here

but I need to return. the ones who don't want to go back can stay, who cares, but why's the rest of the population just twiddling their thumbs???

i thought it was some kind of super precise elemental bending. sounds like it's not.

I don't want to simply "find a way back". I want to find a way back where I can keep all my memories of everything that has happened here.

2. I couldn't tell you. And the scientists that say that they're supposedly "working on it" haven't exactly told us shit on the progress. Hell, just recently one of the natives decided to even trick people by sending them to an 'illusion' of home. Just something to watch out for.

3. No problem. And I don't know what 'bending' is, exactly, but probably not? It's more science-related than anything...

2. sounds like propaganda to me. i think this place is a lot more sordid than they want us to think. i don't know how. i'm still new. but something's not right. a lot. but i don't trust any authorities here in the slightest.

3. there's a lot of technology here far beyond what's in my world. it's crazy. i don't think i'm interested in the finer mechanics. i'm no scientist. my head's spinning enough here.

1. I'm of the personal opinion that everything that's happened is my real life. It's a part of my reality, even if I do want to return home.
Besides, 'destiny' is bullshit, anyway. Nothing is set or written in stone unless you believe it is. If you start having those sorts of thoughts, then they really will become the truth.

And more than that - even if I've changed, I'm still me.

That hasn't changed. I don't want to forget that. The people I've met, the lessons I've learned.

2. It's a mess of things, to be honest. I think a majority of them are... fine and strangely straightforward, but a lot of that comes from my impressions of them over the past year and some change. Some of the authorities are Moonblessed though, so keep that in mind.

I'm not going to tell someone to trust authorities anything like that, since it's not in my right to say it, though. It's not like I entirely trust all of them, anyway.

1. Bullshit that destiny is bullshit!! you hold the reins, that's true, but you certainly didn't will yourself here — yet you so readily accept this life as your own, knowing you'll forget it, accept these experiences into your identity, find that deep meaning, yet still think it was chaos that granted you this part of yourself that you cherish so much now? that something like being spirited away this place is sheer coincidence? bullshit.

there has to be an explanation for the unexplainable. there's no such thing as coincidence, certainly not cosmic coincidences. destiny is just not as you ever imagine it will be. but you're responsible for it, and responsible for recognizing it. if you refuse to look your own fate in the face, you'll fuck up big time when you go off-course, and you'll feel it in your core.

2. I won't trust someone in a position of power just because they've also been spirited away here. weak common ground. I'll still interact and participate to learn, but I don't think my skepticism will die down anytime soon.

I'm not a Moon Knight, but I know one. I could pass information along to you if you'd like. I'm not sure if he'd appreciate me giving you his number immediately, though.

You're Iris, as well? Can't say we've gotten lucky in that regard. Is this your first cycle without strange traits?
