We live together, so we spend many of our days together.

Does that simple of an approach work? Don't people want to be swept off their feet?

The last time I did this, I was a teenager, and we just ended up having sex and started dating.

It depends. Everybody goes into it differently. You can sweep them off their feet to ask them on a date, you can ask them on a date and sweep them off their feet during the date... as long as you both have a wonderful time together, I think.
