I was wondering if there's anyone out there who can teach me how to play an instrument. Something I can carry around is ideal but I do know a bit about the piano already.

I know how to read music already so we can skip that bit of the lesson.

I play violin and a few other string instruments.

Lute, probably. Violin is actually rather difficult to master.

But I want to learn the instrument for something in particular.
And I don't want to take months to do it.

Well, I suppose a single song would just be a matter of repetition and memorization, rather than any sort of learned technique and knowledge of notes, cords and scales.

What sort of song is it?

Haven't decided. My partner speaks French so I thought he would like it if I sang something in that language.
While playing the instrument.
Like a serenade.

I've never heard that language before but I'm sure he'll be touched that you're trying to connect with him like that.

If you've talked to someone else who feels confident they can teach you that quickly, they'll probably be better for the job since I've never taught music before.

[She was a mentor in the Order of Whispers but that has absolutely nothing to do with playing violin.]

I am curious to see how it goes, though! And I'm willing to offer any advice I can manage.

acoustic guitar is easy
u can get by with just a few chords
defs the way to go if ur in a hurry to learn

And how long would it take to learn a song?

depends on the song
like how long it is or how complex
if u wanna focus on just one song tho then you can skip the theory
and since u know how to play piano u should at least have no trouble keeping up the tempo

so maybe like 2-3 weeks, if u practice every day
working up the calluses is the hardest part
it hurts when ur a beginner

yeah i mean u know the basics so that'll help
with rhythm guitar, u just strum and hold
easy
it's kind of just learning how to hold and working up the muscle memory to avoid looking stupid

uh well there's a bunch of music stores in lunatia
prisma place has everything
i got mine at a hole in the wall on level 2

don't worry about getting a fancy one
no point in buying a good acoustic guitar if ur just learning
buy whichever one u like then upgrade if u get into it

but yeah holding hands is fine
u'll need to practice every day tho
just a fair warning
i've never taught anybody before
