Ten is normal. It drops down to a few years for ones that live in the wild. Predators.

I'm not surprised to hear that rabbits have very short lifespans where you're from. It seems like we're always doomed to be in the shadow of predators.

It's probably just a difference in longevity between worlds. Plenty of carnivores there don't make it to twenty.
