Well, I'm pretty sure we didn't actually need any more proof about the whole "if you go home you go back to the same time you left with no memories" thing, but I guess I'm just more proof for that.

No one ever mentioned how WEIRD it is to have two conflicting sets of memories if you come back though. Has anyone else had any issues with dealing with that? Or am I just weird because of how long I was away from home and then how long I stayed there again?

And on a completely different topic, does the prismal kids dressing up as us seem weird to anyone else? Halloween isn't a thing in my world, but dressing up as real people doesn't seem to match what I've heard about it. Do any of you who come from a world that has Halloween know if that's a normal thing or just something the prismals came up with?

Um, to answer your question, sort of, Sora and Riku didn't seem particularly confused when they came out of their crystal comas, but I think they were getting like... a few months of memories, tops? Sounds like you've had a lot more.

Kairi! Glad to see that you're still here!

Wait, this memory stuff also happens with the turning into crystal thing? That makes everything about it make even less sense than it already did. I guess that must not have happened all that often, since I hadn't even heard about that before.

Yeah, they went to sleep and crystallized for about a week and came back with new memories. They didn't outright disappear like you did, though.

I don't think it's super common for that to happen, but at this rate nothing about Lunatia really surprises me anymore. Anyway, how are you? Are you adjusting okay to being back?

Yeah, I'm going to blame my surprise at anything here on having memories of the last two years of not being here. Because I really should know better by now.

And I think I'm doing alright, considering everything. Bit more conflicted on the being here part, but that's normal since I was just back home.

Also I'm angry at myself for toning down my training back home, even though I couldn't have known about being able to be pulled to other worlds were the usual world defenders aren't around since I didn't get to keep my memories of being here.

[ A few moments pass, and then she sends another message.]

Okay, yeah, maybe I'm not adjusting to being back here as well as I first thought.

[Well, okay, that she wasn't expecting. But hey, she knows Videl, she can help her friend through this... frustration?]

Well... why did you ease up on the training back home in the first place? Knowing you, I'm guessing there was a good reason.

Mostly because when it came to protecting people from all the world ending threats there was no way that I was going to be able to get strong enough to be useful.

And the biggest martial arts tournament back home also isn't worth competing in, not with the actual strongest people in the world ignoring it.

That's... actually really depressing, isn't it?

[She knows a thing or two about feeling useless, and it's not a feeling she'd wish on anyone else, much less a close friend.]

I'm sorry to hear that, Videl.

Yeah. It is.

But yeah, now that I know again that the whole reason I slowed down was pointless since it's not like the people in question are here or that even if they were Chroma would keep them from being that strong? Just makes me feel worse.

To be fair, you should still be crazy-powerful against most of the things that show up here.

If anything I feel like it's probably gonna be a reverse of the situation you've got at home.

I think you might be overestimating how strong I am. There are plenty of people here who are as strong as I am, if not stronger. But I'm not stupidly outclassed, anyway.

Well, usually. I probably don't have the chroma to fight at my strongest right now.

Well that's an easy problem to fix. Don't even have to get wild about it, just hang out with me for a bit and you'll have plenty.

[She will hug the power back into Videl!]

And maybe I'm overstating things a bit, but I don't think it's by that much. C'mon, you can shatter boulders with your fists and fly. Yeah there's probably a few people here who can do the same sort of stuff, but most of us at least need a weapon or something.

Well, I'm all for hanging out whenever you are.

[ Honestly, if Kairi's answer was "right now", Videl would probably be out of her apartment door before they even finished talking here. ]

...And okay, you do have a point there. I think being from my world has kinda skewed my perspective of what "strong" is. At least when it comes to me, anyway.

[And no one was surprised.]

I mean from what you've told me, you're used to people who can punch a planet in half. Kind of a big gap between that and any of us.

Yep! On my way now!

...Actually, it's worse than that. Sure, most of them can't do it with a punch (I think), but I think at this point almost everyone I know back home who can use ki can destroy a planet.

Hell, it'd probably take several years, but I could get strong enough to destroy a planet if I wanted and that still wouldn't be strong enough to matter if an actual threat showed up back home.

... That is absolutely wild. Honestly, even if they're perfectly good people I'm kind of glad no one like that is actually here. That kind of power is really scary.

It does take a while to get used to the idea.

[And she'll just... not mention that Gohan actually had been here for a while. Even if he wasn't here now. ]

Well, it took a while to get used to running around jumping between worlds with a giant key, too. Maybe I just need a little longer.

[Or to actually meet one of these guys in person, though that might make it worse, at least at first.]

Anyway. I'm heading to the park now. Should be there in a couple minutes.

Maybe. Going to be honest though, that still sounds weird to me even after how long I've known you.

[And indeed, Kairi's at the park in just a bit, glancing around eagerly for her friend. The moment she sees Videl, her eyes light up and she rushes towards her with a wide grin.]

Videl! Hey!

[ Videl grins once she sees Kairi, and before she even says anything else to her Videl flings herself at Kairi and quickly wraps her arms around the other girl.]

God, it's so good to see you, Kairi.

[Giggling happily, Kairi throws her own arms around Videl and squeezes her in turn.]

Same! I didn't think you were going to come back! Or if you did, I was worried you wouldn't remember.

[Just like the others.]

[ It really didn't hit her until this moment just how, well, few close friends Videl actually had back home. Sure, that wasn't something she had minded all that much back home (most of the stuff she dealt with just being around Gohan and his family could easily drive any of those friends bonkers), but just... being this close to someone and having it feel normal was wonderful.

Of course, Videl does listen to what Kairi says, which probably doesn't mean anything good.]

...Did a lot of people that you know leave around the same time I did?

... I lost Sora. And Riku.

[Riku was already gone when Videl left though, wasn't he? She couldn't be sure, come to think of it.]

And Aqua left, she came back but without any of her memories... It's just been a big mess, honestly. I've got Roxas, and a couple friends I met here, but... most of them seem to be gone.

[At this point, the only other person in her apartment is Koishi. She's cried herself out already over it all, but it still dampens her spirits a bit to think about it.]

[ Oh no. That's... yeah, that definitely explains Kairi's current state, and Videl ends up tightening her hug without really thinking about it.]

I'm sorry. Losing all of them at once must've been... [ She trails off, not sure on how to finish that sentence in a way that didn't sound stupid. But at least she was back. And she remembered.]

I'm back now though. And somehow I don't think I'm going anywhere anytime soon.

[Kairi's clinging a little. She hadn't really planned on that, but with this topic of conversation, it was probably inevitable. She's not crying, but that's mostly because she's already shed those tears.

A few times, actually.]

Well, you stuck around a while last time, so I can believe that. [With a sigh, she gives one last squeeze before moving back enough that she can look Videl in the face.]

It's just so good to be able to see and hear you.
