Somebody snuck this and sent it to me. Not half bad, whoever you are. Still learning this Prismagram business. #hashtag

Oh wow, you have a very primitive cyborg part. You don't see that... uh, ever!
spah: (one of his now and then)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-02 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Gee. Thanks, mister.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound condescending! (゚´Д`゚)゚ Cyborgs and augmented folks are much sleeker where I come from. It's like... home made, almost.
spah: (from tearing me a structurally)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-02 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You really know how to pay a man a compliment, partner. Why don't you ask me something, instead of flapping your mouth where I can see it?

It'd be homemade because I made it. I appreciate the look a lot of tech's got around here, but my Gunslinger holds up to em just fine.

Wow, really? An early model from a pioneer in the field!

[personal profile] codecmoment 2019-04-02 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I'm just excited. I'm from a techy world - not quite like the place here, a few decades behind, really. So it's like, wow. Not all sleek and shiny like the cyborg I know.
spah: (somebody told me)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-02 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[It takes him a couple extra minutes to decide if he even wants to respond.]

Huh. This place is pretty ahead for me. I'm an engineer, though, so I'm pretty used to learning new tech.

Me too! ヾ(´∀`○)ノ I'm trying to get into the R&D sector here. Learn all kinds of alien tech. I do robotics and mechanical engineering.
spah: (we need a change)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-02 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ok this guy isn't that bad.]

I'll be. Mechanical engineer here too. Done some on and off robotics.

Lemme know how R&D goes. Sounds like a hell of a thing here. I'm still looking into work.

Oh wow, is that what the inside of your arm looks like? You have an amazing dexterity for something so streamlined!

( She won't call it primitive but she's thinkin it, just like Hal. SORRY, ENGIE!! )

[TO HELL WITH BOTH OF YOU]

Just the wrist and hand. Thanks. It's my grandfather's design.
cadeuces: (I want you so bad)

[personal profile] cadeuces 2019-04-02 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's incredible! Do you have any sensation? Pressure pads, temperature sensors? Is there a nerve mesh in place?
spah: (lord i've seen the world)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-02 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. No sensation. Never thought of a nerve mesh, though. How's that work?

[personal profile] cadeuces 2019-04-03 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, that's a shame.
A nerve mesh is an installed synthetic map meant to connect to your nervous system and interface with the technology— so you can program it to relay the proper input to your mind.
That way you have a sense of how hard you're gripping something, where you've touched down and where you haven't, if things are hot— it doesn't process pain the same way, but it gives you a warning sensation.
spah: (superfluous new behind?)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-03 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's nothing. I took me a while, but I got a feel for how I hold things. I'm used to pressure gauging it. Or at least keeping it eye on it.

Gonna keep that in mind, though. This place does tech a hell of a lot different than where I come from. Much as I wanna keep my grandfather's design intact, it might be time for some upgrades.
cadeuces: (I will not ask you、)

[personal profile] cadeuces 2019-04-04 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know that it would be something you can find here, either— I invented it myself when I began assisting in a very particular rescue effort and used the technology going forward. Things here are advanced in some ways and far behind the times in others, to me.

But I couldn't stand seeing those who lost so much sensation all at once left without any options. So I made one. It isn't perfect yet, but it is on its way.

( It broke her heart, the first few times she dealt with cybernetics cases before Genji. a hand here, a leg there— but he was her first extensive case and she wouldn't let it go on a moment longer when he'd lost so much. Watching someone try to pet a service dog and being unable to feel the fur between their fingers. Never knowing how hard they were shaking someone's hand, or cracking their favorite mugs, the disorientation as they adapted to a new world with two new legs and a replaced arm. )

If you ever need another brain to pick, I will help as much as I can.
spah: (it's been the same way for years)

[personal profile] spah 2019-04-04 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You invented it? Goddamn. Color me impressed, ma'am. I mean it.
cadeuces: (I will not ask you)

[personal profile] cadeuces 2019-04-05 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no one else was.
But thank you for the compliment; I can say with a fair amount of confidence that it has made a difference. As have my nanites.
That's all I can really ask for.

[You're in luck, Dell -- over on the other side of things, here's someone from a world where technology is not that common. But she was originally from Earth, so it's not... completely nonexistent or something. And she recognizes that guy anywhere-ish. The name, anyway!]

I don't think I've seen a hand prosthetic with so much functionality.

[Finally, someone to impress!]

Pretty, ain't she?

I can't take all the credit, though. It's my grandfather's design.

Still, that must have been a fairly impressive feat, and I imagine there was some period of adjustment involved.
