[On the first day of the Cordis moon, a video feed is opened on several Prismatican social media sites almost simultaneously, as well as the app the Moonblessed generally use for this kind of communication. The camera's view is crowded with a bevy of nervous and excited looking young Prismals of various and sundry stripes, standing in front of a building with rainbow windows and led by one Ren Suzugamori, flagrantly obvious Moonblessed. Except he's flagrantly obvious in a different way this month, skin still ghastly and glowing and eyes still gold, but now with nine white tails that look thicker than he is wide and a set of long, foxlike ears. His fangs poke out of his mouth slightly, but at least his claws are covered by the ridiculous drape of the shirt sleeves he's wearing right now.

As soon as the feed starts, he waves at the camera with a light smile and winks, starting up with a cheerful and cutesy sort of tone.] Everyone, say hello~

[The crowd of Prismals all shout a greeting in muddled not-quite unison, and Ren curls a hand over his mouth as if thinking it's cute.]

They're enthusiastic, right? My name is Suzugamori Ren - nice to meet you all - and we're all here to welcome you to a new place to have fun on Level 1 - Sanctuary Gaming.

[They all gesture behind them to the unmissable building.] We're having a proper grand opening party on the 8th where everyone can come in and game together, but let's explain a little more first. If you need a place to play or buy tabletop or video games, we're right here for you for all kinds, even if you only really know the classics like chess or Go or shogi. And we're also taking custom orders for accessories and peripherals for all kinds of gaming - everything from card sleeves to headsets and keyboards, we can work out with you as well. We've got a lot of talented staff here to work on our own game releases in the future, so in the meantime, we can also offer you their skills on custom orders while we're working on bringing on a game that this world's never seen before~

[Ren puts a finger to his lips as if to say it's a secret, then points downwards.] If you want updates, make sure to follow us...and we're taking expressions of interest from anyone who wants to playtest when we get that far. Just come in and we'll put your name down, or if you're interested in joining our team, I can arrange an interview as well.

[Now that the important parts are out of the way, Ren puts a finger to his lip in a dramatic, thoughtful sort of motion.]

So here's a question we'd like to ask you all: If you could recommend one game to everyone else, or if you had to pick your favourite game, what would it be? It can be from your world or this one, we'll be happy to hear more from you whatever it is.

[Even if that's very broad wording and could potentially introduce some shenanigans. For now, though, they all wave at the camera.]

Well, I meant normally, since I go between being a cat and a fox sometimes. But I would have thought you could tell what's different this month from the video...

[The normal Cordis foxes don't usually have nine tails, for one thing.]

I've seen a few people who were in the same situation.

[ Is what he says, given he's met those who've shown signs of having been fucked over by the Sinless at the end of last month. ]

What's visual doesn't tell me about the rest, and I don't have a history of your entire time here.

[ Pointing out what he doesn't know, because Ren's been on world longer than he has, too! It's not like they've sat down and discussed each permutation Ren's experienced from mooncycle to mooncycle! ]

Shouldn't that be kind of a hint, though...? Usually only one cycle gets fox things. [If he's seen people in that condition prior to now, presumably it was during Sanguis, and thus not normal for them.]

Cordis foxes don't get nine tails, silly. You don't need my history to have noticed that, since you're Cordis too, right~?

[Clearly all Cordis people do Cordis research, or just go around asking people as many questions about their moonblessings as they can like Ren did when they first happened.]

[ He tries very, very hard not to sigh, and manages to keep it all internal. ]

Five months of these cycles hasn't revealed the depths of their possibilities, have they? Or else we wouldn't be surprised at how things can change, or what might change them. Or what might not.

No, but if it had happened before now we probably would have seen it...most people get surprised when something different happens to them, I think, not something they've never seen before.

[He gives a bit of a puff of breath, like he doesn't want to have to mention the next part.] Also, with what happened with the wine and how the last fancy moonblessing like this seemed to come from a drink as well, I'm starting to wonder if this is a pattern...

[First dragon tea, now nine-tails wine.]

... I begin to suspect it is, based on exposure to elements native to different regions of this world.

[ He's sorry about that, even if he wasn't here for the dragon tea. He did hear about it at least, which helped give him his current working theory. ]

On the one hand, it seems likely that your system will be fully purged by the end of this moon cycle.

Mmm, so I guess the question is how many places there even are outside of the city... [None of them are in any way practical to get to unless it's absolutely necessary for some reason, it seems, but it would be nice to have some idea of what they might be dealing with.]

That'll be a relief, though. I've gotten kind of sick of glowing.

[And sick of looking in the mirror and still seeing golden eyes. Just because he's chosen to own it for his cycle doesn't mean it's not still uncomfortable.]

No one seems to strictly know at Lunar Scientia. At least not from the Prismals I've spoken with, and all the recent atlases are incomplete, marked with more unpassable regions and uncertainties for what's been preserved of the world at large in the wake of whatever happened hundreds of years ago.

[ Which is his long way of saying they're in the dark on this, but not, he believes, fully intended to be. Is nothing orbiting Prismatica and taking satellite imagery? That's what's strangest to him, but then again, maybe there's literally magic preventing that from working.

It's the hardest thing to rationalise for him, how technology and magic work together in at times outright illogical ways. ]

I'm rather more fond of red eyes than gold.

That's a bit troublesome, isn't it...? You'd think they'd at least have records of the groups who have visited, they seemed to at least know who the dragons and foxes were before they showed up...

[Granted, he's not sure how well long-distance communication would go outside of the city without those people having to send a messenger, since he doesn't know if the cell towers here go that far, but that's a question for another time.

There's a slight rustle that's probably Ren flicking his hair, and an amused hum at that last comment.]

Oh? How flattering. But that almost makes it sound like you don't want to see me when I'm like this... [Obligatory pouty whiny tone.]

Yes... half the time it seems like oversights. The other half, not so much.

[ When it comes to the makeup of the populations outside Lunatia, that is. Ren deciding to pout at what is a thin attempt to ask Shen Qingqiu to come see him leads to two raised eyebrows on Qingqiu's part, like he's deciding between making a point of it or letting it slide. ]

There are more direct ways to ask me to visit.

[ He says instead, lips quirked at the corner. Truly, Ren, all you need to do is ask, bro, he'll spend time with you! Not playing anything off a board with games, because his LmaO account is one played out of the many, many different facilities with VR set-ups catering to the purpose. He's... not investing in his own set, ever. Too many questions. ]

What, you think they're keeping things dramatic? [Read: "hiding things from us", Ren's just not generally that tactless on a public network. It seems like something that would suit in-person talk better.

Though on that note, he gives a light laugh at the reaction.] Well, I'm not really in the mood to spend too much time at home this cycle, barring certain things...you can come play around in the city with me, if you like. And by that I don't just mean games.

[Who wants to know what Ren's even more shameless than usual mood is going to bring to the table here? Nobody, probably.]

In the way that any group keeps things dramatic from outsiders who don't know and share their full history. [ It's a dismissive sort of statement, but he's also not going to outright say, "Yes, but I don't know what the thought behind it is, because I really do believe half the time it's a failure on their part to think something requires explanation."

Shen Qingqiu blinks, taking not wanting to be cooped up at face value. ]

Certainly understandable. When are you planning on getting off?

[ From work.............. from work! ]

[Ren, at least, is happy to let that first topic drop when Qingqiu chooses such a wonderfully exploitable phrasing for his question. It's a good thing this isn't video, or he'd know what's coming at exactly the moment Ren's brow arches almost fit to disappear into his hair.]

That's an awfully personal question to make me answer in public, isn't it? Unless you were offering. [The continued regrets for everyone (except Ren) resulting from applying shameless moonblessing effects to someone who's already shameless.] I suppose I'll be nice and answer what I think you actually meant, though...I should be done here in about an hour, we're just checking on some last boring details.

[Product stock numbers and things which he wouldn't inflict on anyone not working for him.]

[ He would know if it were video, but his brain's tracking other concerns, so his puzzled response is at first: ]

What? To come get you off from work?

[ Before the rest of what Ren's response is filters through and he... very... very quietly... plants his face in his hands. It took him this long to realise what innuendo Ren had been hearing, and he can't even blame him! It was his own shitty phrasing! Time to ignore it, since Ren's kindly giving him a fucking out! ]

Then in an hour it is. Until then, Ren.

[Ren might not see the face in hands, but he can pick up the pause that comes after the question, at which point he helpfully and lightly interjects.]

I think you might've figured out what it sounded like you were offering...

[Because he couldn't just let him get away from that completely clean, especially when Ren's currently more in the mood for that sort of thing than usual anyway.]
