accidental video
[ It’s been some time since he got here and Baal’s been trying to get used to his new, albeit temporary, home. He’s also heard about busking apparently and has taken to pretend that his attempts at reading the resonance of the place are actually random ass songs he’s made on the fly. (It gets him by, a little bit.)
However, Baal has yet to actually try out the... bracelet...? mobile device, thing. It’s pretty clear the technology of this planet is so vastly different to the Sky Realm.
...
Yeah, he feels like an old technologically illiterate man but he’s from a fantasy world with flying airships and people still send snail mail. So! He’s fiddling with it in the safety of his home but of course, it doesn’t go so well and ends up uploading a video which focuses all too closely on the odd-looking smirking cat on his shoulder.
...Those sure look like sharp teeth— and Hannibal, who is just as curious, begins to swat at the screen. Poke, poke, poke.
A few more cat pokes later, the screen goes black but the audio is still on and Baal blurts out: ]
... Is that how you turn it off?
[ Hannibal mews in response.Happy international cat day ]

[ Hannibal mews in response.

Your cat is adorable.
[Atsushi has such a weakness for cats that he would likely say that about any cat, weird-looking or not. Being unique just makes it cuter!!]
voice
I see. I apologize, this form of communication is unfamiliar to me.
[ Adorable...? Baal looks at Hannibal, an eyebrow quirked. ]
... He says thank you.
voice
[Atsushi would be similar, if he had been called from the year of his death and not from much later.]
What's his name?
voice
[ Which said cat proclaims in a dignified sounding meow. ]
voice
[Atsushi's number one weakness: cats.]
voice
He's asking for your name. [ But Baal, you haven't given yours..... ] ... And my name is Baal, his... [ uh, caretaker? Minion? The bigger extension of his self? ] old friend.
[ .... nailed it ]
voice
Nakajima Atsushi. It's a pleasure to meet both of you.
audio
If you're having trouble, you should've said so.
audio
I assume you’d be at the educational center. [ He vaguely remembers being told that people are allowed or required to go there. Surely Ayer in his young age would want to go...? ]
It’s alright; I’m able to use this communication device now.

[ Wow. Is that a polite way of telling him to go to school? There's a small irritation in Ayer's voice. He doesn't need more guardians telling him what to do. ]
Hell no. I'm still adjusting to all this shit, I'm not going to school.
[ A larger part of him is still worried about all this. It's too early for him to settle down. But school isn't such a bad idea — once he's less jittery, maybe he'll consider it. ]
no subject
Or did he miss that mark? ]
We both are. [ hobo man figures busking is a good way to earn money apparently ] You seem to have a grasp on this communication device better than I have.
[ He's not... being condescending or anything, he just genuinely finds it very surprising... mortals are fascinating... ]
no subject
[ Does that answer your question, Baal? Yes, Ayer does in fact like books and that's where he learned about most things so far. The locals are helpful too since they're willing to tolerate his barrage of questions. ]
no subject
[ Is he going to admit he’s lost the first time he wanted to to look for the library and settled for randomly asking the locals if they’d like a random song or two. It’s not like he needs to eat. ]
... May I trouble you to accompany there if you’re free?
[ :P ]
no subject
[ That's a yes. ]
When?
voice
Whenever you are available.
[ good job, baal ]
no subject
It's not like I have anything else to do. Let's go tomorrow in that case.
no subject
Alright. Thank you, Ayer.
[ Hannibal meows in thanks as well. ]
no subject
Send me a message tomorrow when you're ready to go.
video; and now for this idiot too
Are you aware you unleashed this on all of us? Why are you letting your cat freely play with the device to begin with?
voice
Baal’s reply sadly comes as a voice recording because it seems to be the easiest thing to do at the moment ]
You’ll have to excuse me; I was curious about the device.
[ Percival’s video sparks some sort of recognition though... ]
...Are you a friend of the Captain’s?
video;
[ He doesn't know why or how the Captain keeps recruiting all sorts of primals to join them, but he's acclimating to the thought. ]
Call me Percival. And you are Baal, correct?
video
voice
... He can speak, when he wishes to.
[ But he’ll leave it at that. ]

Mreow!
[ ............ ]
He says hello.
no subject
utterly delighted
and after a moment, he leans in a bit closer to the device (even if, sadly, he cannot see anyone else there). ]
Meow!!!
no subject
...
Hannibal responds kindly to the boy’s meow with a meow of his own. ]
... His name is Hannibal.
no subject
We are well met, Hannibal. I am Titus Alexius!
Oh, and it is nice to meet you as well, Hannibal's friend.
no subject
... It's Baal.
[ Hannibal lets out another meow. ]
He is glad, too, of meeting you, Titus Alexius.
[ ...hm, what else can he talk about– ]
You seem quite fond of cats.
no subject
I am indeed. Actually, I had heard about cats long before I ever met one in person, so at first I wondered—Ah, do I really like them so very much, or is it merely a sense of novelty that will lessen in time?—but it has not lessened at all. In fact, I believe I am only growing to like them more, the more I get to know them.
no subject
... Mostly cats. ]
I learned. [ It's a very useful skill! ] They're some of the most interesting creatures I've ran into.
[ ... Sir Baal? ]
Just Baal will do.
no subject
How wonderful...
Do you think I might be able to learn, too? If I can find a cat to teach me.
voice
[ Though he can't change the past now. He recalls when he and Lucifef had made a similar blunder that necessitated a tutorial from other Moonblessed. At least they had all beem tolerant of the mistake. ]
voice
It is a curious thing.
[ Hannibal takes that moment to meow at Sandalphon’s voice. ]
But it seems to be faster than the usual means of sending letters.
voice
It seems to be their preferred method of remote communication, in this world.
[ And he can admit it is convenient, albeit strange. ]
voice
[ no paper, no pens, no ink, and no money spent on the carrier pigeon (or what have you)? this is easily one of the best things already. He can see Medusa, Satyr, and Nezha being thoroughly excited over these. ]
voice
[ He imagines Skyfarers would benefit greatly from such an innovation... Although he doubts it will come very soon.
Their means and methods differ so greatly. ]
Though spme of their technology strikes me as a waste of resources.
no subject
So this is new for both you and Hannibal.
go ahead, have a baal
This technology doesn’t exist where I come from. I suppose that mor— [ there’s a sound of a light swat, and it’s basically Hannibal hitting Baal’s mouth with a paw. Discreet. ] old saying is true.
[ Luckily no cats were killed? Right? ]
A BAAL!!!
Curiosity killed the cat? I suppose so. But you can always start learning! I had to start somewhere myself. Although it would be easier for you, Baal. Sorry, Hannibal.
no subject
Indeed. I would need guidance, however, but I am thankful I know people who can tutor me.
[ what's-up-fellow-kids-grandpa.jpg ]
no subject
Then, I could always help. I knew what it was like. So I can do my best to make it easier for you.
[Nice look grandpa.]
voice
Nope, nope. We can still hear you loud and clear!
voice
I see. I will have to learn more how to best use the device the locals gave us.
voice
[He get it.]
