This might be a weird request, but could I borrow a few baggy shirts? I guess Iris makes me grow big, uncomfortable, stupid horns that don't let me fit through doors and ruin all my tops! [ that is not a bitter tone, it definitely is not. ]
Promise to give them back after the moon's over?

A senior...studying for entrance exams gets kinda brutal around then. Everything's just kinda happening at once.

[What are idioms? Can you eat them?]
I suppose that would be true. I... didn't have to study for entrance exams, but I know that the ones that most take to get into colleges, especially the more prestigious schools, can be incredibly difficult. You sound as though you've had to live through them yourself however.

[ you can if you believe in yourself. ]
Just looking at the questions for University of Tokyo and Kyoto U. is enough to make you break into hives. It's amazing you didn't have to study for anything. [ ] there's a wistful sigh. lucky. ] Did you get a scholarship somewhere?
no subject
[When you speak over thirty languages, it happens, right?]
Hives?! That's terrible!
[Sonia takes an even longer pause before she answers the question Yukari asked.]
I was offered a scholarship to attend high school, but once that was over, I was needed back home in my own country. I didn't have the opportunity to attend college.

[ considering the pause, yukari will guess high school and any plans beyond that were sensitive topics. ] That's sad to hear. Being a transfer student must come with a lot of different expectations.

[Or that she's taken something literal that was figurative in meaning. Yukari is not the only person to be a bit exasperated with Sonia and her quirks. She can't help it.]
I loved the opportunity to learn about Japan firsthand. There is only so much one can learn from television, after all. Culture does not translate as well as one might expect, you know.

[ it's an endearing character trait? ]
Yeah, there's no better way to know the locals than to talk to them. I'd love to travel someday.... Hopefully, you really liked Japan.

[Part and parcel of the princess thing. She can't even be said to be bragging since it's said so matter-of-factly.]
Travelling cannot be overrated. Seeing the world is important for most people, especially considering how connected it has become, thanks to the Internet. However, I loved Japan before I ever had the opportunity to go there. I am not the only one, either. Japan was second to only our own country in my people's eyes.
[Just imagine an entire country of weeaboo.... er Japanophiles. Yes, that.]

Getting that scholarship must have been a dream come true. Where are you from?
no subject
[What is having downtime or a personal life, Yukari? Sonia has no clue.]
Yes, the scholarship was truly a blessing. I am from Novoselic, which is a small country on the European Continent.
no subject
[ please live your best life here, sonia. ]
Novoselic? My geography isn't that great, but I can't say I remember hearing that name before.
no subject
It is something like that, definitely. Being the princess of an absolute monarchy does require a great deal of diplomacy and fostering of goodwill with other nations.
Especially in Europe, which is so diverse and sometimes contentious. But it is fine that you have not heard of Novoselic. Cartographers seem to overlook it as well from time to time, but it is a small nation with a good economy not too far from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Hungary.

[ hold the phone. she said what. ]
Wait, what? You're a princess? Like a real princess who's going to rule a country one day?
no subject
Yes, I am a real princess of a small European nation. There are so few royals left all over the world. However, you know, even Japan has the Emperor and his family and there are is the Royal Family of Britain.

[ yukari paid attention in school, she knows her stuff. ]

[Hey, school is important. Now she can put that knowledge to use.]
However, that is not to say that we don't have a council of advisors that gets elected by the people. They are just as respected as the kings and queens in power.
