Has...anyone actually thought about this?

[It feels a little weird to just put his voice out on the network, but Steinbeck feels this is necessary. His voice is slow, pausing every once in a while to make sure he's got his thoughts straight.]

Look, I get it. Getting to pilot a big robot, traveling into the unknown, like yeah, that's pretty cool. But it bothers me how many people are excited for this without thinking of what might happen. You're traveling through a dangerous wasteland that will most likely have creatures that can and will kill you. You're riding in these robot things that haven't been used that way before, so there's no guarantee they'll work properly out there. And you're doing this for what? To get some information? See a cool oasis? Become big damn heroes, or something, all at the possible expense of your own life?

[He heaves a sigh.]

What bothers me most of all is how you're all willing to just do whatever those people tell you. They could say "jump" and you would reply "how high?". They practically using us for their own needs. You know, this isn't our home. For those people who want to stay here and don't want to go back, that's fine, but for the rest of us...there's no real point in doing this for a place that we don't belong to. Even if we're all special and awesome and Moonblessed doesn't mean we need to follow what these people want us to do. We're not their servants, for crying out loud.

Just...think about it. [A beat.] And for anyone who still wants to go...stay safe. It'll be your own funeral out there.

[SEVERAL HOURS LATER AFTER HE POSTS THIS POST AND GETS REACTIONS, Steinbeck updates his post with a text addendum. I'm sorry. He's this petty.]

I'm interested in at least doing something to save the lives of the people who are like me. The ones who are trapped. The ones who need to get home. The people of this planet? For all I know, they could be lying about how they have no idea how we got here. Why should I trust them? Why should I stick out my neck for people who just use us like tools?

[Him, having a personal grudge against people who use others for their own needs? Naaaaaaaah.]

I make assumptions because so far, nobody has given me an actual good solid reason for how this helps any of us besides that one guy who is so depressed that dying in a giant robot is exciting for him. When nobody gives me a logical explanation for why they're getting involved, how can I not think that this is like watching a bunch of lemmings running towards the end of a cliff? I want to think people have a good head on their shoulders, I really do, but from what people have told me so far...it kind of makes me worried that people don't really know what they're getting themselves into.

How do you know everyone else brought here isn't, like, some kinda irredeemable jerk? How do you figure we're not all part of the con? Why afford everybody brought here the benefit of the doubt without granting a crumb of that to the Prismals? Sure, maybe they're lying, but maybe they're genuinely asking for help and lack ideal circumstances in which to do it.

I'd rather run the risk of getting played than watch a planet die through my inaction. You don't need to convince me to help you, you just have to ask. If that's dumb to you, then... Y'know. Whatever, I guess. Being good is more important than being right.
