[Video] Hair Spray, 80s Tentacle Version

Hey everyone! Konoka here. I've got a couple of questions I want to ask to everyone.

[ Konoka's cheery visage is the center of the screen as usual, but for those with keen eyes, they might notice that Konoka's hair seems... slightly more animated. Alive, even. ]

Well first off, is anyone around enrolled in school? I'm doing some magical research, and I realize that while I have a majority of the magical strength I had at home, I still don't really understand how a lot of this technology works. These phones are about the closest thing, and even those have quite a few features that I don't have around my time. I figure enrolling in the Academy might help me understand stuff better. What's their curriculum like?

And I'm still an understudy, but for those of you who do magic, what's it like to use? Does it work like it does at home? [ Konoka considers her words carefully, because she knows that Eva would sass her for talking too much about the intricacies of their own magic. ] Back where I'm from, anyone can use magic, but you had certain affinities that made certain elements easier for you to use. Water, Wind, Earth, Fire, Light... and Darkness, said to be origin magic.

I ask since I'm curious as to how magic's been affected by Chroma.

[ Eventually, with almost no movement from her hand, Konoka's hair almost slithers over her shoulders, and she begins to idly play with it. The source of this is one Dusklight Bracelet gleaming on one wrist. ]

Oh, on a more interesting note, my hair's turned into tentacles. It's surprisingly easier to take care of since it's tougher and doesn't tangle as much! Do you guys have any hair styles I should try?

On a more personal note, I'm thinking about getting the materials to make a pactio with someone. With a pactio, I could lend you guys a bit of my magic and an artifact that will help you protect one another... and me, probably. But I need to be sure that I can do one first. Are you interested?

[[Most of that didn't exactly go over his head, in fact some of the things he uses back home are the same, but different in overall use. All of it was more Rose's thing, actual magic, sounding than his. Especially the school talk, he actually made it all the way to the end and had even rolled onto his side to sleep more of the day away until he read the last bit and ... and he had to make sure that this wasn't just for gaffs. A little lazier than usual and at least he's using voice for the first time around here.

Say psyche right now because I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going. Dude, I think the hair style you should try is a hair cut. How the fuck are you calm about your hair turning into a bad image board thread you send to your buddies late night to laugh about and then consider possibilities during the nightmares in your sleep?

[ Image boards. She's heard of those but never seen them herself. But given her voice Dave could probably tell that she never even considered the thought. ]

I've had this during the Iris moons for three months so I'm used to it...?

[[It takes him a few minutes to recover from the idea that maybe he should stay with text, at least the text sometimes he reads over before he sends.]]

[[It might not have been, but that's the implication because he didn't take a second to filter himself.]]

These are the moments he wishes he wasn't so afraid of fucking up this timeline, going back in time and just telling his former self to shut up. The stumbling mess of a voice has its seconds of quiet and then he launches back in as though he hadn't been saying any of it.]]

Okay cool. So this happens every month. Awesome. Best. I retract my earlier statement. I think it's fine how you are. Everything is perfectly fine have you tried a large as fuck toothed comb to slick that shit back? Just give me a second I'm trying to get the taste of foot out of my mouth.

[ Konoka's initial surprise revulsion tapered back all the way down to mild confusion. Which then shifted to amusement. ]

Ah, I wound up getting a basic one around the second time this happened. The new hair's too thick for my old comb, I found out.

I do like how much easier it is to play with though!

[ To show her point, she simply stroked it forward over her shoulders and began making a basic braid... which, once the pattern was done, the tentacled hairs covered the rest. What would normally take several minutes was done in several seconds. ]

[[He's just that good at talking to people... Said no one ever. At least she's not yelling at him the next go around.]]

Like a basic tentacle comb? They have tentacle combs? Tentacombs. Alright, no weirder than half the shit I've heard of around here.

[[With interest at least, he watches the video.]]

Oh. Holy shit that... is cool. You could even like fight crime during the night and have a cool name like Medusa. Or something else not snake like. I know it's not snakes but you could is the thing. If I was a criminal I wouldn't fuck with someone who could choke me like thirty times before I even got out "it's not what you think officer". Plus you wouldn't even need equipment you could just hunt really tall criminals and then you'd have insta cuffs to walk them back to the station. Maybe you'd even get a red phone to the commissioner.

[[He's sure he's played a video game or two where there were girls who used their hair to fight so it's a sound suggestion to him at least.]]

[ Konoka laughs at those suggestions. ]

I'm not a fighter... not a good one I'm afraid. I'm more a medic at home. It'll work as a nice self defense thing if I need it to, though!

How effective would this be as cuffs though...?

[ Just out of curiosity, Konoka undoes her braid, instead letting some of her hair wrap around her fists. She then attempts to pull her wrists apart while bound by her own hair. She feels this, but it doesn't hurt like some part of her feared. ]

Maybe it could work. Not sure I'd stake my life on that, though.

[[Huh, fancy that. Another life type player. He's finding them all out over in this place. Not only that but he's going to be brave today and risk video. Wearing his dark, mirror glasses, Dave is reclined on something looking like furniture with a large blanket snuggled around him. The red outfit barely visible around his neck. It's a lazy indoor day.]]

That's cool, I can work with mild mannered medic.

[[The blond shrugs his shoulder. Waiting to see what the verdict is on the cuff issue. Well, it's true, he doesn't think she's going to be fighting crime with it but...]]

If worse comes to worse- [[A finger raises and he shoves his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.]] -at least you have options? You could just whip your hair around and smack some bitches in the face instead. I'm sure being pimp slapped by hair would catch them off guard enough for you to get outta there until you could call for help.

[ Now that Konoka was looking at him, she had to say that she was rather amused by the smooth shades look. But aside from a mirthful look, she continued her casual conversation. ]

That sounds like a fair idea. Other people are always having to save me, so I feel like I should be able to at least make it less troublesome for them.

[ Konoka looked a bit embarrassed about it. ]

On the bright side, I've gotten much better about it recently!

[[He gets that a lot, it's a fair assumption the first time someone sees it. His attitude doesn't help and he wouldn't have been hurt by it. It's harsh lights he doesn't like, but they sure do look good ~~according to him~~. A tilt of his head is the only indication that his mannerisms have turned from his relaxed state to curious. He doesn't think she should feel embarrassed, but he's not entirely blind.]]

It's cool that you're getting better about it, I said to someone a few days ago y'gotta start somewhere. Like it's important as fuck to be able to protect yourself at a base level. So you just never... [[He shrugs his shoulder in a more nonchalant way than meant any other way.]] learned or no one taught you or...? Cultural thing? Worldular thing?

[Well, she doesn't know anything about the Academy and she isn't super interested in making a pact with anyone right now, so she'll just stick with the one question she can actually answer.]

My kind of magic is done by combining our own natural energy with power all around us. I personally use my Keyblade to do it, but there are wizards who use all sorts of items to help them. Staffs and wands are pretty common. The most powerful don't need anything.

[Though Master Yen Sid had been a Keyblade user once. She wasn't entirely certain what happened to his Keyblade, actually.]

The base spell elements are fire, ice, lightning, water, wind, and life, but there are others you can tap into if you're skilled enough or have a strong link to them. Most especially Light and Darkness. Earth is also kind of hard to tap into, though I'm not quite sure why.

When I use it here, my personal mana seems to basically be my Chroma reserves. The energy around me is the same as it always was, though.

[Which is why she doesn't crystallize whenever she casts Cure.]

[Sena is still fairly new here herself, so she doesn't know much about the Academy either. But the question about magic has her attention.]

I don't exactly use magic myself, but I've copied some magic that I've seen others do. It works pretty similarly as it does back home. Or at the very least, I haven't noticed any differences yet.

I wear my hair in a side ponytail. That might be cute with tentacle hair.

[She says, completely not bothered by the idea of said tentacle hair.]

It's not that I'm terrible about it now, [ Konoka put her hands up, slightly flustered. ] I had a bad luck streak when I was younger, constantly getting kidnapped. And part of me blamed myself, especially since getting out of that trouble was...

[ How should she say this? ]

Actually kinda romantic. But I didn't want to chase that sort of thing when everyone else was in danger, so I've been working on getting less vulnerable.

[ There might be further implications behind the word 'romantic', but Konoka didn't elaborate. ]

Oh, that's pretty similar to us! More people cast from the magic in their bodies though.

Though... wait, you mean Chroma IS our magic reserves? I don't know why, but I thought they were separate but linked things.

[ Since 'chi' in her world is a distinct thing from magic, since Asuna could use it. ]

[[There's a small upturn of the left side of his lips, which on his otherwise stoic face is about as good as amusement get son his face. It sounds like a great many books he got read to him on a three year journey he had to endure. Thanks overly obsessed with romance stories friendo. At least he can use the information from the stories practically and owes said friend an apology over how he never would use the information. He stands corrected.]]

The Princess in another castle syndrome, huh? In fairy tales it's about knights or wizards or whatever rescuing maidens and all that kinda shit. Which I guess is cool. I get the appeal on a writing level at least.

[[He tilts his head back just a little and to the side, adjusting how he's curled in his comfy hermitcrab corner of the city. It's more that he's been up too late and now he's suffering the sleepy consequences that he's well used to.]]

But it's good you're outta that. Someone's still gotta rescue you and that puts their life on the line one day. Maybe not any've those times, but one'a those days. Plus, think of it this way...

[[Another small shrug of his shoulder somewhere beneath the blankets manifests itself in the form of said blankets sort of moving or shifting.]]

Someone else might think it's hot A F if you rescue them one day, so you still got your shot at it bein' a bit of the same. Just a different way of going about it.

Oh, you can mimic people's magic? Interesting.

[ Konoka nodded.

But the side ponytail, present from the other girl talking, was the bigger draw. ]

A side ponytail? I know someone at home who rocked that look!

[ Konoka gave a wry smile as she was able to gather her long hair in one hand, seemingly with little effort, and tied it to the side of her head with a scrunchie. However, unlike Setsuna or this girl, Konoka's very long hair still fell well past her shoulders. She gave herself a look. ]

It's not a bad look for me, though.

That's a great look for you! Or maybe, since your hair is so long, you can do a lower side pony tail [She mimes with her hands a ponytail that rested on her shoulder] and maybe braid the tentacles too? I'm not sure how easily they'd braid, but a braided side ponytail over the shoulder would be really cute on you, I think.

[ Konoka's eyes light up, and she leans a little closer to the camera. ]

Yeah, you understand, right? I've got a romantic heart, and at some point I actually lived it. But I also realize that's too dangerous to rely on!

I imagine I could always do a pretend thing? I think they call that role play. All of the benefits and none of the drawbacks.

Mmmm.

[ Well, Konoka tries it out. She removes the scrunchie... which honestly takes the most effort out of anything she's done so far, and even then, it isn't too much. She pulls her hair together, lower this time, before retying it. The hair tentacles being able to move makes threading it through ties much easier. And after that, she began to tie that long hair into a basic braid... until the pattern was established, and then the tentacle hair continued the rest of the way. ]

This is actually kinda fun. I've never tried a lot of braids before, and now they're really easy to make!

[[Dave actually looks like he's considering that question while she speaks. He's not sure that he get, gets it but the concept is there. He's had to watch enough romcoms and listen to enough similar story lined books to understand at least the basis. He tilts his head from side to side with an indecisive look on his face that mostly disappears after he's had a second or two to think about it. The cogs are still turning in his head and his eyes aren't directly on the screen. Feelings talk isn't easy.]]

I mean I don't not get it? Having someone care about you enough to go after you, or multiple someone's but I'm betting it's better if it's a single someone... I can see the appeal to be given a damn about so...

[[His head finally turns back enough to indicate that his eyes have certainly returned to the vision on the feed.]]

[[The smirk from earlier returns momentarily and he raises an eyebrow, tilting his head once in a quick gesture. She's funny, not so much a haha at the moment, but it's good memories when someone's riled up about things where stories collide.]]
Yeah I guess you could. You just out to find yourself a storybook, is that what it is?

I mean, as far as I can tell they're basically the same thing. My Chroma's usually full enough that I haven't run into the problem of running out since we finished with the dragons.

[That said, she can't be completely positive they're exactly the same, but speaking from a practical perspective she doesn't see any meaningful differences.]

[ Well, he almost got it. For now, that was good enough. Maybe another day, when she talked to him again, she'll explain it. But for now, she continued to idly play with her hair, pulling up the end of it and letting it slither around a hand while she continued to talk. ]

I was part of a "Library Exploration Club" back home. When I was younger I was a big book geek. Even now, while it's not the strong obsession it once was, I still enjoy a good book.

I don't know if I'm looking for a book like that. Or rather, it's not the top thing I'm thinking of.

Hmmm.

Well, I have a lot of magical reserves so I never run out, but I do have certain abilities that dump all of my magical reserves to happen, so...
