My name is Usagi Tsukino! And I totally need some help! You see, one of my bestest best friends, Ami Mizuno, well her birthday is this month! The 10th for any of you who are friends with her too!

Aaanyway! So, I wanna get her like, the PERFECT gift cause I mean, this is her birthday we're talking about! And we're away from all of our friends from home and so I wanna do something special to help make her smile. But the thing is... Ami-chan is brilliant, like, just absolutely 1000% awesomely smart! And super-duper sweet and polite. She's such an amazing girl. And while I could get her a book cause she loves them, I don't want to cause well, what if she already read it, and I can get her a book anytime, ya know? She reads books the way everyone breathes! No no, see this gift has to be special!

And see, the thing is... um... I don't know what a super-duper brilliant girl would want.. well I mean I do know what she likes and would want, but again perfect gift here, people, that's what we're going for here. She likes computers and reading, swimming, and water. I've already got dinner planned [For those who know Usagi, fret not, she is not cooking.] I've got our day planned where we're gonna go to the aquarium. But I need that cherry on top, ya know?

So, for all you geniuses out there, what would be the perfect gift in your opinion?

I dunno, last time I bought a gift for my nerd I spent like a month figuring out what tools she needed replaced.

I'm not that kinda genius, because my next thought is 'something wet'.

She's not a nerd. [She's totally a nerd.] But she doesn't really BUILD things, ya know? So tools wouldn't... do her much good.

What I mean is, you can put in enough legwork to make getting her a book work out, although it depends on how much you can find out without being suspicious.

Why the hell not? If she's a genius, she could take it apart and make it better.

Hm. Perhaps something to do with computers, then? I'm afraid my own knowledge of technology, particularly here, is severely limited, though. But I do have one back home I do my bookkeeping on. What does she do with computers, generally? Does she work on them, put them together? Does she... Oh, what do you call it... Program?

Are birthdays really that important?

[There's nothing judgemental in her tone. Only curiousity.]

She'd figure me out instantly... [Big sigh is big.] Ami-chan's so quick to pick up on something like that, ya know? [... Well... except people hitting on her.]

And it's not like a book wouldn't be appreciated. Like I said, she reads books the way most people breathe... I think only my Mamo-chan reads anywhere near as much as she does.

But I don't want to get her a book cause I can get that for her any time. I want to get her something that stands out.

Did I list bombs as a hobby? No. When it's YOUR birthday, sure, fine I will get you a bomb.

Maybe a hardcover book on some of this world's history or deities might interest her. It's a gift that's both practical and useful.

Research mostly, on the computers, I mean. [And hacking but Usagi is not... gonna mention that.] But not putting them together... though I bet she could if she wanted to. I don't have a clue what programs she uses, though.

A bomb would be a challenge and learning experience.

But if you're too dense to see that, fine, just get her a fucking surfboard.

Oh! Maybe a swimsuit! I do know her size! She doesn't have that many clothes here cause she only just got here... and shopping isn't really her hobby as it is mine.

Suki-kun, not everyone likes EXPLOSIONS the way you do. And I refuse to have a bomb in my house!

I'm sure she'll love anything you get her. But if you're going for a more specific suggestion, books are usually a good choice. Especially if there's something she hasn't read yet and has been wanting to.
