That can be good in its own way, not having to worry about things elsewhere. Not that it makes it better that you would be here, of course. But the weight of ties to home can be burdensome.

I think I would miss something if I liked what was happening, where I came from. But I don't.

This place is better. It's not on the verge of collapsing in itself because people made very bad decisions regarding the state of the world.

I take it you're not in a position to do anything about it back home.

There's no hope in doing anything about it.

Then I guess it really is a blessing to be here.

It can be different things for different people. It's not a blessing for me, but if what you're saying is true then there's no reason it couldn't be fortuitous for you.
