[Video] - An Army of Wolves - (Sanguis Cycle)

[Midna hasn't exactly put together what's going on with the cycles of the moon, but she is distinctly pleased by the concept of animal companions. In particular, the wolf and dog sorts.

She's in her very bare-bones apartment. Seems she hasn't taken the initiative to decorate it yet. It's somewhere on an invisible to-do list.

Lounging on her bed, she wears a coy little smile.]

I've noticed an increase in puppies around lately. I once worked very closely with one and we proved to be very practical to one another. As such, if you find a puppy without a home, I'm more than willing to let them stay with me.

I promise to take very good care of them.

[Yes. She's going to adopt all of the wolves. And dogs.]

Oh? Me? I'm Venezia Italia, but Italy will do just fine!

[ there it is, that excitable wagging of the tail continues as he continues ]

You seem to really love dogs, is there any kind in particular you're fond of or just in general? My best friend has some of the greatest dogs, they're so fun to be with~

[Midna rubs the bridge of her nose thoughtfully.]

I hardly have the answer to that. I assume you're not here—correct me if I'm wrong—and in an unfamiliar place, unexpected things can happen. If you make assumptions, you may find yourself disappointed by the results.

Minions is such an unkind word to use.

[She treats her errand-runners very nicely.]

Regardless, I'm not interested in a fur coat. I have no intentions of changing my garb while I am here. [She has a very specific sense of style, thank you.]

Little puppy want some pets?

[She really shouldn't be prodding Chie. Of course, since when has Midna ever really erred on the side of caution? Maybe it's just because Chie is genuinely cute with her overprotective demeanour.]

Venezia. Italia.

[What a mouthful. Thankfully he shortens it for her.

She smiles at his observation, though she realises she hasn't exactly been trying to hide her love of dogs.]

I prefer wolves personally, but I imagine I would be inclined toward any kind of dog. I've only been around one extensively. I'm hoping Lunatia will have something similar to them.

[ Her response does get a bit of a curious look from the girl, and Lyria is eager to press for more questions considering how her eyes widened ever so slightly. ]

Your world? [ Ah, so she's from somewhere else, too... ] Are there no dogs where you are from?

[ She seems very earnest in her questioning, but the cat comment did get her to giggle. ] I think animals can be just like humans! Something we all don't get along, but we can live in the same world together peacefully.

What if we have no puppies? Would you still take care of us?

Potentially.
Do you need taken care of?

Minion, schminion. If you need a favor, just learn to ask nicely for it, okay?

I always need taking care of...

~~[Midna can you put on a maid outfit and give him massages no wait there's only one teacher in his life who should be doing that.]~~

...but I also take care of others in return.

[...What does she even say to any of this?
Is he kidding? Is he serious?

She tries not to express her confusion, but it's hard.]

Is that your way of saying you're a troublemaker?

[A little of column a and column b...he's' very good at confusing others.]

Well, some people did see me this way back home.

[And so he continues; not a no, not a yes...]

I'm just having fun. Are you saying you're a troublemaker?

[ he's noticed that it could be a full plate for a few people. besides, nobody at home seemed to bother with the full title either.

but her talk of wolves just made him so curious, it was very specific wasn't it? not in any way that caused him alarm though, just genuine interest ]

Oh yeah? What kind of wolf? Are they important where you come from? I know my grandfather's land had an origin story about how two wolves were the beginning of a great empire so they were very symbolic in his culture~

Not in the way that some might think of them.

[Shadow beasts are kind of like dogs, but not in the same way. The Twilight has a way of corrupting all beings within it, including Midna's people. Once upon a time, they were said to have once looked like the Hylians, after all. Now the Twili were elongated, strange alien-like beings.

Or so the story goes.]

You are a very optimistic young lady, aren't you. [It's not even a question, but more an observation. Truth be told, Midna finds the outlook naive as all get-out, but she chooses not to say so.] Be careful that someone doesn't try to take advantage of that.

Nicely?

[Midna pauses for some moments, unsure of even how to interpret that. True that Midna's never exactly been accused of being 'nice,' and maybe some might even call her 'mean-spirited,' but...

She's actually been kind of trying since her arrival in Lunatia. Something about honey and vinegar and all of that.]

I was unaware that I said anything that was unkind.

I was unaware there were different kinds.

[Midna makes a note to see if the academy or the library has any books on wolves. The only wolf she's ever known personally is Link. Somehow she imagines that Twilight wolves are likely not exactly the same as those outside of the Twilight.]

I've only ever known of one from my world. A friend of mine, so I was fond of him. Although he was not a wolf to begin with, but rather a boy. He became a wolf to better suit my needs.

[It's a harsh way of putting it, but at the end of the day, truth is truth. Link was largely Midna's errand boy. It was hard to run errands in the Twilight as a being not of Twilight.]

I imagine some have called me one, and then some.

[Entitled. A brat. An imp. Unbearable.
Midna can think of plenty of words that likely suit her.]

But most would call me beautiful.

[Zing.]

GO AWAY.

Are they.... bigger dogs!? [ HER EYES ARE SO BIG RIGHT NOW if they're not like the dogs she knows, then maybe they're mutant dogs?? She has so many questions. ]

Advantage...? [ She's curious about the statement, a small brow raise is indication enough. However, she doesn't let that bother her as the girl only continues to smile. ] Eheh... I know. I'm always very careful, but thank you very much for the concern!

[He just stays quiet for a few seconds to let that sink in before answering with a little bit of amusement hidden away in a layer of deadpan delivery;]

Well they'd certainly be right.

Say please.

[Okay. At this point, Midna is just pushing Chie's buttons.]

They certainly bigger. They do not look much like dogs at all, though. I think most here would look at them and feel fear at the sight of them. A shame I cannot actually show them to you.

All the same, under the proper management, they are mostly harmless. [Maybe. Midna's not certain about that. The shadow beasts were under Zant's command, so perhaps there's no such thing as a harmless shadow beast.]

[She does take a moment to listen to the rest of what Lyria has to say, but decides not to address it. Doing so either leads one to think Midna's actually concerned about someone, or saying she wasn't concerned, which just isn't a good impression.]

[She chortles. Her favourite thing is probably when people actually play along. It's not really playing along, of course, in Midna's head. She's undeniably beautiful and she already knows she's never met anyone who looks remotely like her.]

Flatterer. But one cannot deny the truth, I suppose. I would never lie over something so important.

[Which is probably not true. Although to be fair, not telling the whole truth isn't really the same thing as a lie.]

[From one trickster to another, it is always a good time, but perhaps more dangerous to those around them.]

I've been told we are our own worst critics. It's good to know some people don't have that problem and brim with self-confidence.

[He gets it.]

So is the puppy story top secret? I have to admit I'm a little curious...

[Brimming with self-confidence. That's certainly one way of putting it, isn't it? Midna preens a little bit more.

His question, however, catches her attention.]

Who's to say there's a story? I once knew a puppy I rather liked. I miss having one to do my errands for me.

[...At least she's kind of honest.]
