[Video] - An Army of Wolves - (Sanguis Cycle)

[Midna hasn't exactly put together what's going on with the cycles of the moon, but she is distinctly pleased by the concept of animal companions. In particular, the wolf and dog sorts.

She's in her very bare-bones apartment. Seems she hasn't taken the initiative to decorate it yet. It's somewhere on an invisible to-do list.

Lounging on her bed, she wears a coy little smile.]

I've noticed an increase in puppies around lately. I once worked very closely with one and we proved to be very practical to one another. As such, if you find a puppy without a home, I'm more than willing to let them stay with me.

I promise to take very good care of them.

[Yes. She's going to adopt all of the wolves. And dogs.]

[ Lyria is slowly getting use to this new technology, and so the face that shows on the other side of the screen might be... just a little bit to close.

She seems to be peering into the device, but her expression seems excited. ]

Puppies!? I haven't seen any yet, but I will look out for them now that you mentioned it! [ Something to help her distract her thoughts from home, she believes. ]

That's so kind of you to take them in. You seem very kind!

[Midna can't properly make her out, but she makes a note to commit the voice to memory.

It doesn't stop her from cracking a grin. Her, kind? Why, people have accused her of being other things before, but she's pretty sure 'kind' isn't one of them. There's a first time for everything, evidently.]

What can I say; I'm feeling charitable. I happen to have some space in my home. Why not give those poor dogs a place to stay?

If you see a blue one around, he's got a home already.

[The camera takes several seconds to bring Keaton into focus. He's still learning how to navigate this strange technology, but his wolf-like ears -- flicked back, mostly in confusion at her enthusiasm -- should be visible through the blurred feed.]

Hey, hey -- you're making it sound like we're collectibles.

You may want to put a collar on him, so I know who he belongs to if I find him.

[Okay. She's partially teasing about this one.]

[Oh, look. A puppy in question.]

Hardly. I just happen to like dogs. Wolves, in particular. Call it a weakness of mine. At least—if I had any weaknesses.

Heh. Pretty sure of yourself, aren't you? And it's not just some mutt you have in front of you -- I'm a wolfskin. Been having to explain that part a lot to people lately. I always look this rugged and tough -- no mysterious influence from some weird red moon required.

I have no reason not to be. We're only as weak as we perceive ourselves to be. [There's some slightly flawed logic there. Midna simply doesn't want anyone to find what her weaknesses are. Everyone has weaknesses, after all. Well. Almost everyone, anyway.]

I don't understand what the difference is between what a wolf is and what... you are. Unless you mean the idea that you aren't a full wolf. [What did he say? Wolfskin? She's never even heard of that. That comes as no surprise to her, however. Lunatia is infinitely full of mystery and new experiences.]

[A heavy sigh. It's shameful to the wolfskin reputation that he's had to explain this half a dozen times in a matter of days. He consciously keeps his ears from pulling back in annoyance -- it isn't her fault she doesn't know.]

Wolfskin are a sort of shapeshifter. Under the right condition, I can turn into a full-fledged beast -- eight feet tall, bigger teeth, the works. I have to use a specific stone's magic to do it, but that doesn't make me or other wolfskin any less of a hunter in our regular forms.

[It's still the Sanguis cycle, which means the face on the other side of the screen is covered in little green scales.]

That sounds practical.

[It's not hard to figure out why he was chosen to be one of the Moonblessed, as it were. Although it makes her wonder why she, in comparison, was selected as well. She certainly doesn't have any skills like that.

She doubts beauty is a skill.]

Does that mean you can pick up scents well? You could always just sniff out puppies for me.

I wasn't intending on stealing anyone's puppy. I thought it was transparent that I meant puppies with no place to stay.

[ here he was, wolf ears perked at full attention with an enthusiastic tail wagging about in the background ]

I can't say that I've found any stray puppies so far, but if you'd like I could help you look for one any time you'd like!

[In the background of the shot, his tail can be seen holding itself stiffly to his side. This woman's intentions sound like they could be innocuous, but after dealing with poachers and "fur traders" over the course of his violent lifetime...]

What would you want with us, anyway? Once we're all tight and cozy in your apartment?

That's such a great idea! I know for me it was really scary coming here, so I'm sure they need to feel like they have a home, too! [ Why wouldn't she think this woman is kind? It's not everyday you see someone trying to take on such a large responsibility!

Oh. But, hello. Lyria manages to adjust the camera enough so it's finally in view of her full face. And what do you know- she's smiling. ]

Are dogs your favorite animal?

[The Twili shifts and she settles her chin in the palm of her hand as she eyes Lyria thoughtfully. Are dogs her favourite animal? It's an interesting question. There aren't really... dogs in her realm, per se. She's rather fond of kargaroks, in truth.

A shame she didn't get to bring one with her. Maybe she can make a request like that to whomever was responsible for bringing her.

That being said...]

Hm. My favourite animal not in the world I come from, yes. I've seen cats as well, but in truth, I did not find them nearly as agreeable.

Oh, my. You're so serious.

[If she was a nicer person, she'd make a note not to tease him, but... No. Midna's just not that nice.]

Well, well. If I see a blue one, I'll make certain to send him home. Hopefully he'll know where home is.

I just want a bunch of wolves to do my bidding.

[She's so straight forward about it, that it may be difficult to determine if she's teasing or being serious. At the end of the day, Midna sees nothing wrong with being direct about that.

Besides, she rewards those who serve her well. Or would. Hard to do that when she's not exactly in the Twilight Realm, she supposes.]

[Oh, this girl.]

Goodness. Are you certain you're not a protective puppy in disguise?

[This right here is exactly why Midna has gotten into trouble in the past. When she's not taking someone seriously, it doesn't normally end up on a positive note.]
