Karkat grunted in acknowledgement towards the thank you. He seemed far more preoccupied with stretching his arms above his head with both hands squeezed into fists. It was no secret that he was struggling to sleep without his kind's usual, soporific aid. He was, however, content to shuffle his knee to rest against Dave's side. It's a coincidence, don't comment on it. A strong and independent troll like himself doesn't have any craving for physical contact. Ever.
"No. But tell me anyway." That is Karkat for 'yes, I'm interested'.

He set the chopsticks down for a second and shrugged his shoulder, the one not leaning against Karkat. "So if I'm going to get us home, I'm gonna have to figure out how much each jump is in whatever amount it is. That means I have to test, too, I can't take you with me if it isn't safe for you." He cared too much for Karkat to see him hurt and be the one that hurt him. "And obviously I'm not fuckin' leaving you here so, might be a while."

Pointed ears flicked upright at the mention of danger. "Dave," Karkat spoke seriously, firmly. "That has to be one of the stupidest ideas you have ever forced me to endure listening to. And you have a lot of ideas that are really fucking dumb." The troll heaved an audible and somewhat dramatic sigh. Time to do some educating, and it isn't because he is concerned. Nope.
"You do realise that when we get kicked out of planet cuddlefuck here, they put us back? Right where we left, too. Same timeline, down to the Goddamn second like we didn't even leave. So, what's the point?" In a way, Karkat feels... Relieved? "Jumping through timelines like the intrusive shitstain you are will only fuck things up. If you die, or get lost, or anything, then what? We're down a Dave. As blissful as it sounds to be spared from your inane comments every hour of the day, I don't want that. Your timeline doesn't need that. Also, it's fucking wasteful. Use your Chroma for something that's actually useful."
Look. He was frustrated in a sense, too. Everything was beyond his control. Karkat is somewhere new and confused, but... "Make the most of it or something. When the Universe finally comes to its senses and punts your ass back to where it belongs, everything continues. Take advantage instead of wasting your time and money jumping through timelines like a hopbeast on drone season."

It kept him quiet while Karkat talked and Dave did listen, looking back over his shoulder to let Karkat know as much. True to form because he hadn't been actually using his mouth for something like talking, by the time Karkat was finished, so was Dave. Mostly, there was a little in the package still. He fished around a little in the food, remaining a little quiet for a little longer before sitting back on the couch next to the smarter of the two of them right now. "You really, really sure you don't want to go back? We don't gotta play by their rules on an Earth that we create. No one tellin' us we gotta shove ourselves against some stranger just to not turn into a girl's best friend." He clears his throat, "I mean, no homo but not that I wouldn't help you not die..."
He looked Karkat in the eyes, dead seriously easily inferred even while his were hidden still behind his glasses. "You wanna stay? If you stay, I stay. Not promisin' I won't be tryin' to perfect time jumps, but we'll stay."
no subject
"I didn't say anything about staying," He huffed and settled his elbow on the arm of the couch. Much more comfortable to lean his cheek against his palm of his hand when it has a brace. "The Universe will get sick of us eventually and dump us like last sweep's grubloaf. It's safer than exploiting your Godtier powers just because you're a lucky little shithead who can."
no subject
He shrugged his shoulders, "Then... we stay and we can do cool shit here, too. Maybe get some ideas to throw around when we get back on how not to run a planet." He knows they don't remember, don't take that from him. "You already wanted to start riots right? You still wanna riot or maybe we could put that on the back burner until we got more pitchforks. They got some pretty cool movie theatres around here."
no subject
Dave had redirected the conversation to something less concerning. Karkat canted his head aside and perked ever so slightly in interest. So many possibilities. "I'll riot when I have the energy. I've been so fucking exhausted..." He complained and allowed his narrow shoulders to sag. "But when I do, I'll kick their asses so hard their Lusus will feel it from wherever they're rotting in bulgefuck nowhere." Whoever 'they' are.
But what was this about movie theatres? "... Go on." He never had the luxury to visit one of those back in Alternia. Dave has his interest.

There was a tiny huffed noise of amusement, not in a disbelief, but because Dave believed him. After hearing that he kicked the shit out of someone already that shouldn't have been able to? He believed it. Just wait until one or the other realized they were from the same timeline, but again plagued by time. "Y'know, I bet you could. You can be a bossass bitch when you wanna."
Oh, he knew that'd get Karkat's attention. "So I found out they got theatres here right? Showin' some fucked up things and some not fucked up things. Before we riot and burn them all down, right, we should probably go check out a few movies. We can go together so people don't bother us." Totally not a date. "I can fly us over or we can walk or whatever. Walking's been fun lately. See a lot of shit walking."
