[Caim has spent over a month contemplating exactly how to address the network or even if he should. Part of him thinks subtlety is the right pathway to take. Another part of him is convinced that he doesn't care. What does he have to hide, really? Who can really stop him?
The best thing about text is that no one can detect the uncertainty in his words or in how he phrases them. But maybe his texting is a little too perfect. In a world of shorthand and acronyms, written habits remain habits and do not die easily.]
This land is full of madness, I see. Its beasts prowling as the moons transform.
[It's a wonder the streets don't fill with blood during the cycles, considering he's of the opinion a Moonblessed beast is hardly any different from a feral one in the wild. He has yet to experience his own changes, though he doesn't feel a particular investment for or against that concept.]
I must know if there is a smithy in Lunatia.
[Obviously to defend himself against said 'beasties.' (Untrue.) He'll get a sword in one way or another. Even if he has to have someone custom make him one. Although it's probably wisest not to let Caim have a sword.]

I meant that they have those traits by no fault of their own.
[He has never been more tempted to sic Blake on someone, but unfortunately that would probably just give his racism more ground to stand on.]
I would think that would be the exact reason WHY you should speak to them. You assume to know these people based on a tail, or ears, or scales when you don't know the first thing about them.
no subject
[And maybe that's it at the end of the day. Whether they're truly beasts or not doesn't change how Caim perceives people. But then, he never could claim to be a friendly man.
...Perhaps once upon a time. And whether he is or not, Caim is the king of poor first impressions.]
no subject
Then that's your own problem.
You're going to be very lonely and miserable here.
[Ren is hardly the touchy-feely sort and getting used to Prisma's culture has been a rocky road at best, but even he has managed to get over some of his own issues for the sake of friendship and comfort.
The same, he thinks, can't be said for this guy.]
It is really a shame you feel that way. Some of the best people I know are Fanus, yet you're willing to dismiss us all, even the ones born like that, because you view them as "beastly" without knowing a single thing about them or their actual personalities.
no subject
It does not matter to me who is and who is not beastly. I have known my fair share of beasts. I have no reservations for or against them. None of that is my concern. I believe you are looking for something in my observation that fails to be there.
no subject
Especially if your attempts at looking for a weapon crafter has anything to do with the beginning of your post.

I still maintain that you're sorely misinformed about the Prismals and others, but I suppose that's where I'll have to leave it.
no subject
[WHY COULDN'T YOU SAY THAT FROM THE GET-GO, BUDDY. Caim doesn't even bother to address the rest of that because he just. Doesn't. Care.]
no subject
Not by title, no. I was a Huntsman-in-training. Many craft their own weapons before being accepted into the academies.
no subject
A Huntsman. A man of the land, then. [Or so Caim surmises. It's a respectable profession.] What are these academies you speak of.
no subject
Or do and enjoy getting stabbed with Gambol Shroud.]
In a manner of speaking.
Battle academies. Schools that prepare students for their certification as Huntsmen.
no subject
Battle academies.
[Caim pauses because while he's not known for his tact, he understands that part of survival is sometimes having to have a little. Of course, this would be easier if he had someone to speak up for him. Caim is not as great with people as he once was, honestly.]
Is the world you come from riddled with war?
no subject
Huntsmen are trained specifically for dealing with the creatures of Grimm, soulless beings who are attracted to negative emotions and destroy unwary humans and settlements.
no subject
no subject
Grimm are beasts. There is nothing else to call them.
We were initially trained for that, yes, but a much bigger issue presented itself recently that we've been dealing with.
Regardless I fail to see how it matters. A battle is still a battle, and can be won or lost based on skill and ability.

[And Caim is neither impressed nor disappointed by the discovery. It seems all he was interested in doing was gauging his company in Lunatia. Most likely scouting for those who might be untrustworthy.]
no subject
But then, that's not a high bar when people like Mercury Black and Raven Branwen are running around...]
I see.
I suppose Huntsmen, even those of us currently, would fall under 'something else' since there is a legitimate military in Remnant.
no subject
[Why yes, that's his way of actually saying something nice.]
I did not anticipate meeting many with similar skills. If you are a hunter, you use... a bow? A pike, perhaps.
no subject
Pistols, actually.
[Attached: Stormflower.jpg.]
We use a type of energy-based propellant called Dust.
no subject
An energy-based propellant. ...Magic?
[Probably not. Maybe it's more like Angela's 'science,' but who really knows. Coming from a world of supernatural horrors, anything outside of that just seems bizarre. Oddly enough.]
no subject
[As in he knows all of two people who can actively use it currently.]
Dust has been scientifically studied. It just happens to be a naturally occurring element.
no subject
A natural resource then. [He doesn't know how to parse that either.] Do you have others from your world here who are like you?
[It's totally not like he plans on trying to figure out more about this Remnant. Definitely not.]
no subject
Yes. Many.
[He'll give an honest answer, but only because he trusts that his friends can handle themselves should anything go south.]
no subject
I see. You all hunters, or just you? I am finding myself curious about the natural resource you mentioned, but it seems you may not know the science behind it.
[Because he is absolutely convinced that it's magic. If only because magic certainly seems to be a naturally occurring resource in Midgard. Even if it's not, he still wants to know more. And for once, it's not so he can go on a bloody rampage and use it to his advantage.]

As of right now, we have two certified Huntsmen who were also teachers, three who are unaffiliated, one Atlas Military soldier, and the rest of us are students who were last on an extended mission.
[Not entirely the truth. Beacon was destroyed and Sun was actually back at Vacuo Academy, but the rest of them were traveling with the Relic of Knowledge.
Maybe they'll get extra credit for saving the world...]
You would be better off talking to Weiss Schnee then. Her family's company has the largest distribution network of Dust.
