Not at ALL. It simply comes down to your comfort level and how much you wish to generate ChroMA. Naturally if you're looking to put yourself in a more advantageous position it would be more beneficial to do more than simple hand-holdING, but if you're frugal it makes little differENCE.

... Although the locals do seem rather biased towards sexual intimaCY.

It's not at all necessary, it's just...more intimate acts generate more Chroma, so some people take it as an excuse to be more...um. Adventurous than would be socially acceptable back home.

Only if you wish it to be, I believe. If engaging in the act isn't to your liking, then simple things such as hand-holding and the like should suffice for generating Chroma.

It- it doesn't have to be, pal! Almost any kinda physical contact can generate Chroma. S-sex just... it just happens to generate a whole lot of it. But there's still plenty of other valid ways to make physical contact with people! No one should put down hugs and hand-holding!

I find it isn't. Yes, you'll get more Chroma for it, but it's nothing that can't be gained with simple physical contact.
