((Edit Oct. 2nd: Had a few people ask last night if I'm doing them still and yes! I'll do them until the interest dies down and have been convinced there needs to be a concert for musical sorts around here and those who want to help or learn. [ ichiro picks up the voice call when it's returned right away. you can hear it in his voice--he's pleased. a music geek's a music geek no matter what weird world you get transported to.

(also, magical girl? that'd be amazing. he wishes.) ] Hey, man, I'm glad for the enthusiasm. Takes two to tango, though. Respect, seriously, you've got style--I feel like I lucked out checking the network. [ and yeah, if there's some kind of wild rap club, you can bet your ass he'll be there.

...but, the amount of movement in the background gets him to laugh, a big, bright belly laugh. this reminds him of jiro, a little bit, in the spazzy way that only jiro yamada can achieve, which is gaining dave a fondness point. ] You might wanna slow down, though. I don't know where you're gonna find any of that, but if you wanna come over, we can talk music until we can figure it out. I'm dying to hear your other stuff, if you wanna share it. You ever cyphered before?

[[Backhandedly, Karkat is who compliments him about his music and he appreciates it highly. Jade sometimes, but no one really compliments his music with actual compliments. It's something that doesn't happen often and he didn't think this would be the place, time or world to be doing it. But here he is. Here they are.

He's even seen, perhaps, a magical girl who he thinks is gone now, but the fleeting moments were there. Laughter is also good. He appreciates laughter as well even if he's normally a ~~stoike~~ stoic looking guy.]]

[[Dave isn't sure how to make friends but he thinks this might be friends. He didn't even have to suplex this one like he did with Karkat. His feet do come to a stop and he thinks about it.

voice returning to the call a minute later, he sounds happy.] I taught my little brothers, I can definitely teach you. It's fun as hell, if you can freestyle, anyway. We usually do it in West Gate Park back home.

[ ah...he misses his brothers. the ache is real, but ichiro brushes it off for the moment, picking up on the easy tone of the conversation. ] No candy. Promise.

[[He's got the idea in general. A little more complicated but he's got it.]]

[[Which he does, mapping the coordinates into his shades, too, that way he can't miss it if he doesn't want to look at his government issue device. That fight, though, would be one for the ages, Dave would love to see if he's faster than the speed of sound. He's pretty fast but if he is, he's sure that'll impress said "Bro". Maybe.]]

Oh, I know wherein abouts this is. But 'ey. What kinda rapper doesn't freestyle? It's cool you taught your little brothers. Plural? How many you got? They do the cool hypmic thing too?

[[With the promise of no candy, he's on his way over. This place is easier to traverse for someone like Dave when he doesn't have the constraint of streets, even if he gets a few odd looks passing second and third story windows.]]

[ ichiro's not really an honorifics guy...or a last names guy, so dave it is. this kid's earned his respect, anyway, he doesn't need to give him a title. he's also completely unaware that dave is perhaps traveling through unusual methods, so it's not like he's leaning out the window or anything, instead jogging down the stairs to open the door for him.

...also he gave him the opportunity to gush, so. brocon inbound. he sounds very fond. ] I have two, both younger than me, Jiro and Saburo. They're the best. [ the BEST. ] They make up the other two members of my division--Buster Bros, the representatives of Ikebukuro--and I'm the one who gave them the mics, so, yeah, definitely. We're pretty strong.

[ he sounds utterly doting, even over the phone. it's cool guy doting, ya feel. ] Who taught you to mix like that? You, or somebody else?

[[That's good, that means that when Dave is too obtuse to use them, there's no awkward after. Still, he planned on landing when he got there, there's no reason to scare any more people than he does leaving half the time. It's just that he's afraid to go out of his front door right now. Window it is for him and it's a nice flight to listen to someone enthusiastic about their family.

He can absolutely feel the devotion in this guy's voice and it's a god damn pleasure.]]

he's a little bro... cute. ichiro feels a hint of fondness immediately, just at the sheer similarity of their situations. little bros are the best...though he knows this guy, he's not as cool as his little brothers, but he's pretty awesome. ] If they've got something like a coke, I'll take it, but otherwise, nah. I'll cook dinner if you're hungry.

[ since that's his normal routine at home, anyway. ] Apparently, it's kind of confusing for anybody, though, so it's all good. You didn't have World War III, right? Chuuoku doesn't mean anything to you?

[[Dave is amused and it's obvious in his voice while he's speaking.]]

[[He is definitely the littler of the two of them, even at 5'11" he's still the little one. He's catching up, but calling Bro his Dad to anyone is still a little raw. He tested it out once and it never sat right since. He pauses, though, at the idea someone's cooking.]]

's an understatement. [ ichiro shrugs it off without much more than that, though. it's not a topic he likes to address. ] Things are different, now, but I can't say it's much better. We're doing the best with what we've got.

[ he's lucky, after all. at least in the terms of his family, things got better; he now has guardianship of his brothers, and if you ignore every other problem, it could be worse. ichiro's doing his best to take care of his brothers, and of ikebukuro, and at this point, that's all he can do. it's not like him to mope and pout, and his anger at ichijiku and the words party is mostly cooled, in day to day life.

what a depressing topic. so! when dave says he's almost there, ichiro nods, making an affirmative noise and stepping outside of the apartment complex. he's not really sure what he's looking for, but he's looking, anyway. ] I'm standing out front. Red and blue jacket, black hair.

[ leaning against the door like a Cool Guy TM. ]

[[There's some things that Dave catches on to without being a total idiot first and this is one of them. He's not going to push it and if it continues, it'll be with cautious eggshells all around. Really, Dave echoes his sentiment without understanding all the things that tie the world together, it's just his observation.]]

[[As for the rest, he's on top of the building looking down and with there being only one person down there, he felt sufficient in trying to parse this person talking into a device as the right one. Even more when he says his jacket and hair colour.]]

I briefly met a guy back home who'd love your jacket. I see you man. Be down in a second.

[[Which is a second and not hard to do building wise. There's a small rustle of air, enough to move some of the strands of hair on his new acquaintance. That heralds Dave being there and not trying to be quiet about it, jostling his cape a little bit to hang up and put his device on his wrist.]]

We're probably gonna have to wait on these or open them real damn carefully man.

[[The soda that is.]]

[ fwoosh! ichiro's looking on street level for his new friend, so imagine his surprise when dave comes from above. he was midway through mouthing "be down" to himself, and his question is answered in style.

ichiro cracks a grin, impressed and amused, tilting his head up in a sup nod of greeting. ] Sick entrance. [ he's still getting used to the fact that people here have superpowers... the more isekai like, the better for his sanity, probably, but still. he reaches out to take the cokes from dave's arms so he can get himself together, tucking them in the crook of his arm. ] You always meet people that way?

Here, c'mon. [ and, tilting his head back to the apartment, he'll lead him back inside. ichiro's room in the building isn't particularly impressive; he's started to decorate a little, with the miku figure he found up on his mantle, his headphones resting nearby, a stack of light novels neatly on the desk. ichiro takes his shoes off like habit and heads to the kitchen, rolling the sleeves of his jacket up and out of the way so he can cook while they're talking sick beats. ]

[There's no way to give a thumbs up and be juggling drinks, but at least he doesn't have to do that long before he's being given the help he desperately needs and once they're out of his possession Dave decides to forego the thumbs up and shrugs his shoulders instead, righting his cape over his neck.]

Nah, I mean kind've. Depends on how far someone is away.

[[He follows Ichiro's lead, moving along behind him otherwise quiet. He doesn't really go anywhere but Karkat's and home, so going to someone else's place, this is a first if it weren't the aforementioned troll. Even with the sparse decore, Dave likes it. It means there's no room for ambush or someone around the corner, not that he's assuming that, it's just his first thoughts.

When the shoes come off, Dave stops himself in his tracks, he hadn't even thought of shoes. Fuck. There's a few backward steps and he's back where the shoes came off, stalking around in black socks instead.]]

Nice place.

[[Not going anywhere that Ichiro is, Dave follows him to the kitchen and stands in whatever constitutes its doorway.]]

So, Chef SickFires, what can I do to help? Don't let me near the stove I'm sure the building likes not being on fire.

making an affirmative noise, ichiro glances over at the counter. there's a little pile of vegetables--onions, some carrots, a little more--and a rice cooker cheerfully steaming away in the corner. ] If you could cut those for me, that'd be great.

[ you're in for a treat, dave, because ichiro's a really good cook. he's returning back to what looks like some kind of meat, resting his hip against the counter as he props the bowl in his arm, adding spices, salt. ] Alright, so, dude, you've gotta tell me about the music. You got started doing it with your bro, right? Is it just a hobby, or what?
