Hello, fellow Moonblessed! My name is Sonia Nevermind and I am here to remind you all that this is October and therefore, we have to address the fact that there is a holiday that is coming up that MUST be celebrated properly! At the end of the month, Halloween will be here and to let that pass by without any sort of party would be devastating to the morale of this world.

To remedy this before it becomes an issue, I would like to have a party on October 31st. Everyone attending must wear costumes and be ready to watch lots of scary movies, play games, and eat appropriate foods.

[From just off-screen there's the sound of another voice clearing his throat, as if humbly requesting to interject.]

It might be best to inform them of the festivities happening earlier in the month first, Sonia.

[Sonia's face turns into a scrunched up frown as she focuses the device to show Tokoyami's very distinct features.]

Which festivities? Your birthday party is the day before, yes? I was under the impression that we would be sending them invitations personally.

[Though he seems initially a bit put off at being abruptly placed on camera (one might say his feathers were ruffled) his composure recovers quickly, eyes closing as he folds his arms coolly ('coolly') over his chest.]

We're already here. We may as well do it all at once. Besides, aren't you forgetting that your birthday comes well before mine?

[There's a rather poignant pause before she replies, her voice a little less excited than previously heard.]

No, I have not. I was going to hand deliver invitations to my friends and acquaintances, but you are right that we are here. [The device swings back to the former princess.] On the 13th, all of my friends and acquaintances are invited to my home for a small get-together to celebrate the anniversary of my birth. Please wear your costumes.

[From just behind Sonia, Tokoyami's head can be seen leaning into view.]

I'll be holding a similar function for my own annual rite of birth on the 30th. Similarly, I urge those attending to arrive in costume. This is a dark season worthy of such efforts.

[Once they are done with the announcements, Sonia turns to look at her... boyfriend and gives him a smile that is laced with so much emotion that it would be improper to look at him as such in company. While the broadcast didn't go exactly as she thought it might, it is still so good to have him beside her.

So much so that she doesn't waste time in taking his hand in her own and relaxing more.]

What's the significance of the costumes? I've never heard of Halloween.

Halloween is a holiday that started in Western Europe of the planet Earth as a celebration called Samhain. It was supposed to be a time when the veil between life and death was at its shortest due to the way that the year was going from harvest time to the dead of winter. Hence the emphasis on death and dried out things as part of the aesthetic. It was then supplanted by the dominant religion of the region going from many pagan services to Roman Catholicism. So, November First became All Saint's Day or All Hallow's Day, a time when the dominate god and his angels roamed the world to make it safe for humans. Hence Hallow'een or All Hallow's Eve became the last day the demons, devils and evil spirits could roam the land without fearing the wrath of the 'holy' creatures.

Dressing up, especially children, was a way to avoid having the Devil coming to steal them away. The reasoning was that if they looked like little goblins and ghouls, then the Devil would be confused and leave them alone. Hence the costumes.

In modern society, the holiday is mostly a reason to have parties where you can dress up as anything you want, decorate your house in creepy and spooky things and children can go door-to-door demanding candy and treats from total strangers. It is still the one night of the year that is supposed to be magical.

We are truly blessed during this magical time, it is true. As far as other birthdays go, I don't know if anyone else has one this month specifically, but statistically it should be so. Considering how many people there are that are from Earth and are used to time passing the same way.

And thank you, I think. I've never heard it called that, but there is a first time for everything.

As to costume, you can wear whatever you'd like. There are many to choose from and there are lots of places to buy the articles to make one if you want. Or you could invest in Chromawear, which can project different clothes with few adjustments and works for every occasion.

You can wear whatever you want. I am not so self-important that I will dictate what others wear. Costumes should be a personal experience, but I would...not recommend the one with your posteriors showing too much.

[Sonia doesn't really have a hot temper, but she's also the type of person to get upset when people offend those she cares for. However, years and years of training makes her stop and reread the message a few times before replying as diplomatically as possible.]

Tokoyami-san's birthday party is rather focused on those that know him, but the next day will be our Halloween party and everyone is welcome to come. Costumes are mandatory, so I hope that you are ready to dress up for the occasion.

There are a wide array of options. Some choose to dress comically, others prefer to put on a display of nightmares. My preference is for the latter, but none shall be turned away so long as they come dressed as anything but themselves.

Ah, Sonia! I had hoped you would be the one to arrange just such an occasion for the holiday. It will be my first time experiencing a proper Halloween though the children where I live have made an admirable attempt of it in the past.

Of course I would attempt to arrange such a party for Halloween. I could not leave it to anyone else. I would love it if you came and brought any of your companions that you wish. One of the joys of a Western Halloween is trick or treating, but I'm not at all sure that that will be something that we can arrange here.

[Okay, so, Sonia is really excitable on a good day, but today is not a normal day. As soon as she spots the slitted pupils and heavily scaled tail, she makes a note to look for a forked tongue and other signs. It's only her time with Gundham that she knows exactly what to spot to know a snake. However, she's nearly shaking with all of her excitement at talking to a literal snake-person.]

Yes! It is very important in the Western world, especially, but it has become rather popular throughout First World Countries like England and Japan and The United States. All are welcome to come to the party. It will have lots of food, movies, and non-alcoholic drinks. You'll have to bring your own if you wish to imbibe.
