Lots of people seem a touch down lately. So, everyone! I have a simple game that might cheer us all up, or at least make Iris cycle go by faster for me while I read everyone's replies!

You have to post your type! Physical preferences, personality traits you really like, your dream partner! Go on and list it, and people can say if they know someone like that, perhaps tease you for your preferences, that sort of thing. You can post anonymously here too, if you're shy! Just have fun!

Also, here is a funny picture I found. Enjoy!

Science was our version of that, I suppose.
What kind of magic?

I'm a student of all disciplines, but if I had to talk about a particular specialty, that would be the arts of harnessing the untapped power of the soul, at least in some applications. Life force manipulation as well, but there's unfortunately only so much one can do with that.

[Ambro that's a really fun way of saying n e c r o m a n c y]

[ wow look how red these flags are... the language reminds Simon awfully of something, for sure, but maybe if she rephrases it... ]

Life force manipulation? The untapped power of the soul? You've lost me.

Have I truly, now? Surely you can think of the potential applications.

[Yeah she's gonna play coy.]

"Life force manipulation" sounds like murder.
Or worse.

You cannot kill that which is already dead.

So you manipulate the life force of dead things. You raise the dead?

The full reasons as to why would require at least a semester on Vanthian history and culture, but let me dispel a few misconceptions I know others may have:

1) While it's perfectly possible to reanimate a dead body without the consent of the person who inhabits it, this is an extreme breach of ethics, and Vanthian necromancers typically do not do this except out of desperation, as a form of punishment, or sheer dickery.

2) Zombification is not contagious.

[ that just kind of derailed Simon's whole shit, which is 99% about that first thing, but still, questionable as fuck. ]

I guess that's a step up from the only thing I've met that you could call a necromancer. But then... what, you conduct a seance and ask "hey, want to be a zombie"?
And they actually agree to it?

In most cases, it's done while the person is still alive, and they sign a government form or private contract stipulating what they wish to be done with their body upon its eventual death.

[A bit like organ donation, really.]

With their body. So they don't come back — the person they were. They're just a zombie. Who would want that? What's the point?

We all accept that our time in the material is but temporary.

[ Unless you drink lich juice, but she's mostly just buying herself some time here. ]
[ When we've stayed our welcome, we leave the vessel we occupied as a parting gift of sorts. A token of our quite literally undying loyalty to those we cared for in life. ]

And then what do you do with them?

Most people who choose such a fate do so out of some sense of duty. Guarding a family tomb, military or religious service, that sort of thing.

But you control them.
