Meep Morps [video]

[It's a video! Of a somewhat messy living area, mostly because Lapis has turned anything she doesn't need or want, into fuel for art. Which is what she's got the device filming for, as the main focus is something under a sheet (that honestly has seen better days).

Of course, the owner of the device shows her face and Lapis gives a smile and a wave.]

Hello again, everyone. I've been busy with getting used to this place and finding things to do. [That isn't sex-related.] So I thought I'd get back into mee-- [Oh wait, no one here will get it.] Art. I used to do art back home.

[And she's going to go and uncover that thing she has the device focused on finally showing off... Trash art, kind of cobbled together out of various things she could have found around. So yes, there are some busted sex toys in there. What it is supposed to be? Up to the viewer, it's abstract!]

I call this "A week on Lunatia" since it took me that long to gather everything in it. [It's horrifying to think of how she got the stuff, maybe.] I guess I'm wondering if anyone else around here does art? Or something else like it.

[Here's Detective Gumshoe on the feed, staring at the structure with a mix of wonder and bewilderment. But as far as he's concerned, that's the reaction that art should have.]

Whoa...! I didn't know you were an artist too, Lapis. [It always feels like there's something more to learn about her!]

I feel like I'm still processing this one, but... I think you really captured the essence of the city there! [Although some parts of the piece look like... suggestive items. He tries not to focus on those! But they sure are part of the city's essence alright.

Gumshoe rubs at his head sheepishly.]

I'm not too much of an artist myself, but... I do like tinkering with things every now and then. I did make one masterpiece back home. The Dancing Blue Badger! [Some pride lifts up his smile a little.]

[She laughs a bit, either from nerves or just being happy at Gumshoe's reaction.]

I only do it to pass the time really, since I don't have much else to do. [Which is true!]

... And what's a Dancing Blue Badger? It sounds... Interesting?

Heh, well, as far as hobbies go? It's not a bad one, pal! [He says encouragingly.

And then he's more excited as he talks about the Blue Badger.]

Let me tell you all about it! See, the Blue Badger is the mascot of the Los Angeles Police Department. That's where I work! The Blue Badger's like our pride and joy. The chief's the one who designed him, but I put together a life-sized cut-out of the guy to greet people at the entrance! And not just that, I was able to make him do a little dance too! It was spectacular, Lapis! I wish you could see 'im!

[She'll listen to him talk, still not quite getting just *what* the Blue Badger is, but Gumshoe seems excited and such. So she's not going to rain on his parade.]

It sounds different, that's for sure. And too bad you couldn't remake it here either.

I know, right? It's a real shame-

[But then he pauses midthought, as a wild idea hits him.]

...Wait. ...Hold it, pal!! What is stopping me from remaking it here?? I... just need to get the supplies, don't I? I remember what it looks like down to the last detail, and I could put it together no problem. I even remember the dance!!

[With that, he starts to do the dance!]

[That... that dance. Lapis has no words, so she laughs.]

Is the dance less silly when a badger does it?

[He slows down his movements and chuckles softly.]

A-as long as it puts a smile on people's faces and helps them feel safe, that's what that matters!

Oh, I see. Well, it made me smile so well done!

[She is still smiling, even though she's not laughing anymore.]

[And now he's smiling warmly in turn, with some color in his cheeks.]

Oh yeah? Then mission accomplished, pal! And hey, it feels like I'm smiling, too. So... double mission accomplished?

[They both seem to be good at making each other smile and have colour in their cheeks.]

Or like, hm, double the reward?

[That does seem to be a mutual skill of theirs!

Gumshoe pounds a fist into his other hand in response.]

Exactly! You got it, Lapis. It sure feels double rewarding! Heck, your smile's extra rewarding just on its own!

[Oh noooo, Gumshoe did it again. Said something nice about Lapis that makes her blush.]

W-well, Dick, I'm glad that smiling is so rewarding?

Of course it is! Why wouldn't it? Y-ya got a very pretty smile, Lapis! [He says sheepishly.]

And I hope the real deal can get a good smile out of you, too! Whenever I get my new Blue Badger up and running, I promise you'll be the first to see it!

You know, I used to not smile much? [She gives a little awkward laugh.]

And I can't wait to see it, if you need any help though...

Really? I'm sorry to hear that, Lapis. ...But hey, I'm glad things've been changing for the better!

[He nods.]

I appreciate the off. And I'll keep it in mind! But I wanna try to finish it with my own two hands. You can't see it 'til it's done!

Hard to smile when bad things happen a lot, but yes! Things are better now.

[She's befriended Gumshoe after all, how could anyone not smile around him?]

And alright alright. I'll wait and wish you good luck with your badger making.

You musta been through a lot. [He frowns as he scratches at his head. But then he pumps a fist with determination.] Then you're owed a whole lotta reasons to smile to make up for that!!

[And the smiles, a bit nervously, as he thinks of his impending creation.]

Thanks, Lapis. I'll do my best! It'll be an honor to have my work looked at by a true artist!

[She'll give him another smile at his statement that she's owed a lot of reasons to smile, just because it seems like the right thing to do.]

I'm not a true... I just do it for fun. [And now she's flustered once again.]

[Gumshoe laughs.]

And that's a good reason to do it! Hey, Lapis, you seem legit enough in my book!

Um, wow... Thank you? [That's what you say, right? Even when you're flustered.]

Hey if, um, after you're done with your badger you'd want to make art together or something?

[Now he's flustered.]

R-really?? You'd collaborate with me? I... I'd be so happy to work with you, Lapis!

Sure, I mean... I collaborated with a friend back home to make meep morps, so why not work with my new friends?

[Woops, she called it meep morps instead of art. Oh well.]

[That does sound reasonable! Well, except for one part of the sentence that sticks out and makes the entire thing confusing.]

...Meep morps?

Oh um. It's what I call art.

[She laughs a bit nervously, because she had been trying very hard to not use the term around anyone here since no one would know what she meant.]

Oh! [He blinks.] Well I guess that's the sorta thing that's the mark of a truly creative mind! You shoulda just said it from the start, Lapis!
