Meep Morps [video]

[It's a video! Of a somewhat messy living area, mostly because Lapis has turned anything she doesn't need or want, into fuel for art. Which is what she's got the device filming for, as the main focus is something under a sheet (that honestly has seen better days).

Of course, the owner of the device shows her face and Lapis gives a smile and a wave.]

Hello again, everyone. I've been busy with getting used to this place and finding things to do. [That isn't sex-related.] So I thought I'd get back into mee-- [Oh wait, no one here will get it.] Art. I used to do art back home.

[And she's going to go and uncover that thing she has the device focused on finally showing off... Trash art, kind of cobbled together out of various things she could have found around. So yes, there are some busted sex toys in there. What it is supposed to be? Up to the viewer, it's abstract!]

I call this "A week on Lunatia" since it took me that long to gather everything in it. [It's horrifying to think of how she got the stuff, maybe.] I guess I'm wondering if anyone else around here does art? Or something else like it.

[She still doesn't get it, kind of. Also, Josuke looks not well. So she'll not touch any of her art stuff for the moment and she'll disappear off-screen to clean her hands, and when she comes back she'll ask one thing;]

Are you okay then?

I'm fine ... [ Now he's just tired. Someone else explain. They need an adult. Well, he's hoping she got the gist of it and he did hear the sound of water, so she's washed her hands. Maybe his job here is done (but you didn't do anything). ]

I promise I ain't trying to be a buzzkill or anything. [ He's just a good citizen. ] This whole art thing you're doing is pretty wholesome actually. Looks almost fun.

[ He's bored enough to make meep morps that don't involve disgusting trash or sex toys, yup. ]

Mm. It's something to pass the time, only I have to go and find stuff to make it with unlike when I lived in the barn.

It was full of stuff that wasn't being used.

[Teach Lapis about not junk art, Josuke, and save her from ever having to touch another sex toy that isn't hers personally.]

[ Yeah he's the worst person to ask about art but he probably could direct her to Rohan -- an actual artist. ]

A barn, huh? Farm-girl's pretty much the last thing I'd expect looking at you. [ And isn't she also a rock!! He's wondering how this all adds up. ]

[She'd probably annoy Rohan since her art isn't exactly... Normal art.]

Oh, we had a farm too. It was quite nice.

So is that what gem-people just do ... [ Not what he had expected at all, honestly. Then again, aliens do seem connected to farm life somehow. ]

Guess aliens just love the farm life, huh? Have you ever made a crop circle ...

Oh no, it was just what Peridot and I did! We didn't have much excitement at the barn, and she used to be a Kindergartener... [Oh wait, that might mean something different.] A Gem who ran the places that grew new Gems, that's what a Kindergartener is, by the way. So she wanted to try growing something on Earth, and that's how the whole farm thing started.

[No crop circle though.]

Where I'm from, a 'Kindergartener' is just a little brat ...

[ This is definitely something new. ] She made ... baby gems? How does that even work? She must've been such a busy Mom ...

No, Gems don't. We're never children. [Lapis has been Lapis since day one, although probably less of a jaded cynic on day one but you know what I mean!]

A kindergarten is where Gems are grown, so a Kindergartener is a Gem who knows how everything there should be run to make sure Gems pop out all properly and such.

[Lapis knows nothing of the fine details, she's just going by what she can recall from possible Peridot talks.]

So you guys just pop out like this? [ It's a little hard to believe because she looks so human (being blue, aside), but she technically is a rock, so when he thinks of her as a rock rather than a human it makes sense now. ]

You're way more efficient then humans then. We come out as drooly babies who shit ourselves and know nothing. That's why we need our Moms to take care of us.

... Hmm. Kinda miss mine.

Pretty much, we do. And yeah it has to be efficient, can't colonize a planet without people to do the work after all.

[Because that's a good reason to make more Gems, yup.

And Josuke mentioning missing his mom though...]

I'm sorry.

Huh? Oh, it's fine, she's not dead or anything.

[ And he wants to keep her as far away as possible from all this funny business so it's for the best that she's back at home. This thing about colonizing a planet, though ... ]

Wait, 'colonize a planet'? So like, you guys are alien invaders after all!

But you still miss her.

[That's what Lapis was apologizing about.]

Yes, we totally are and I am here to take over this planet. By myself. [Her voice goes flat as she says that.]

[ That sounds like sarcasm to him. Yup. ]

Right, you definitely don't seem like the 'world domination' type ... Guess you must've been off doing something else? While the other gems were taking over planets.

[ Not all humans do the same thing so that's the first assumption in his mind. ]

[The most wonderful sarcasm.]

I served my Diamond when I was you know. Still part of all that stuff.

So what made you quit? The call of the country life too strong?

[ It's a bit of a joke but hey, maybe it's true! ]

No. I got caught in the middle of a war and then mistaken for being one of the rebels and trapped in a mirror for five thousand years.

[No point in sugar coating the truth!]

Holy shit ... I mean, I wasn't expecting what I said to be true but I definitely wasn't expecting this ...

[ This is way, way heavier than he thought it would be! He doesn't even know if he's qualified to respond to it. ]

Five thousand, though? That's seriously rough.

[Hey in a way Josuke asked, Lapis simply answered.]

Five thousand, give or take a few years. But things are better now, so why linger on the past?

I guess that's true ... It's amazing that you're able to move on like this. It sounds, well -- so lonely.

[ To him, at least. He doesn't know if he could live like that, being trapped and alone for so long. He doesn't usually entertain depressing thoughts like this but he can see himself wanting to die in her situation. ]

[Oh she hasn't moved on, it's still an issue and she doesn't enjoy being alone and yet... She seems to end up alone a lot. So she just tries to not think about it.]

It was, but it led to me meeting a very good friend who got me out of the mirror.

Oh. I'm glad that it worked out, then -- I mean, obviously, 'cause you're here and all.

Your friend here, though?

Mm, he's not. Which is a good thing. I think he's a bit too... Ah, young by human standards to be here?

Oh. So he's just a kid, huh? [ Probably for the best, then. He doesn't know how he feels about kids being forced to moonlace for money. ]

Have you made many new friends then?

To my knowledge, yes he is. [Lapis is okay with human ages, but not perfect.]
