There are monsters too, and vengeful spirits, and they seem like they're able to mimic the same actions of someone you know to convince you to moonlace with them and anchor them in this realm again.

Ha ha! I guess that would be really disappointing! I don't think there's a way to tell. The mimicry is pretty perfect, so they might be able to read thoughts to figure out what aspects are familiar to their targets. Having someone with spiritual powers to peek in and verify is the best. But maybe if you started thinking really hard about a contradictory action you know the other person never did, they might pick up on that thought and do it? That's just a theory though!
