Who here is awake at 2am in the morning.... sources say that Inaba is. ]

I don't know how many of you guys are up at this late hour, but let's just say Iris cycle kind of keeps me up sometimes and a good distraction is absolutely necessary for a bit.

Therefore!

I will provide some classic late night text entertainment in the form of two separate games:

1) If you are Japanese and would prefer to play some shiritori for me for a challenge, I'm here for it.

OR

2) You can do a 'text adventure' story with me, custom made, on the spot. Just give me a basic genre or concept and I'll think of something quick for you. I need to keep up with my writing skills, after all.

So tl;dr: pick your poison, it's late.

Makes sense.

You decide that it's better to run into the woods.

Your feet carry you pretty far, although there are times where you wind up looking over your shoulder. There's the slightest concerns that perhaps those people followed you this far, but it looks like that at least for the time being, you've lost them.

A heavy sigh of relief escapes your lips as you nearly almost fall onto your knees but stop yourself. You know you have to keep yourself together. If you don't--

Well, let's just say there would be bad news.

You walk further into the forest, but you're unaware of which direction to go. Each step you take is essentially meaningless. Just a means of escape. The further you go in, the more you sense that this might be bad. But it's difficult to tell.

The path splits again into three.

You have many options ahead of you, including staying where you are for the time being, too. Maybe you shouldn't keep walking.

But they still might continue to chase after you if you don't move. . .

So you decide to look at the paths, contemplating your options. On the left, you can see in the distance that there seems to be a small cottage. It's difficult to tell with your eyesight if there's anybody in it or not. On the center path seems to lie more trees. However, listening closely, you can discern the sound of water. And on the right, a cave.

Choose wisely.

Oh, that's a lot of options.

[ There's a pause. ]

I think I'll go to the water, and see if I can lose them fully that way. The cottage would be better, but I don't want anyone to get in trouble because of me, and the cave could be full of dangerous animals or even people.

I personally think it's best to give more options than less when it comes to this sort of thing. Plus, I encourage people coming up with options outside of these.

You go into towards the sound of water and surprisingly enough, you find what seems to be a waterfall underneath a lake. There strangely doesn't seem to be anything else here - at least, as far as your eyes can see, anyway.

Maybe you really can lose them here...?

But it seems to be a dead end otherwise.

That's very true. You're quite good at this!

That's very strange. A waterfall underneath the lake? Like water rushing down a bigger hole in it? That sounds dangerous. Probably a really dangerous current?

I think I'll backtrack, if possible.

Oops, I meant the other way around. The lake is underneath the waterfall.

If that changes anything, let me know. It's late so it's only obvious that I sometimes make mistakes...

Oh, that makes more sense! Is there any way to hide behind the waterfall or is it all water?

There seems to be a pathway behind the waterfall, indeed.

Then I'll immediately run there and try to hide!

You run there and hide.

You keep yourself hidden, your eyes on the lookout.

One minute, two, three...

Nobody comes.

Perhaps you're safe now?

Oh, I hope so. Can I wait a little and then look outside?

You wait for a minute, maybe two.

You don't hear anything but the rush of water.

Suddenly, you peer outside in hopes that you'd find out that there's nothing to find. And lo and behold there is nothing--

For a second.

But then you hear the loud sound of a gunshot in the distance.

Oh, I'm sorry. I don't think I know what a gunshot is.

Oh. Hm.

Do you have bows and arrows where you come from? Or explosives?

[wildsorcery]

Oh yes! We do. Crossbows, too.... and magic that explodes, I suppose?

That makes explaining this a lot easier.

A gun is basically a long ranged weapon. Similar to bows in the way that you have to aim, but unlike arrows, the thing that you shoot is encased in a shell. You have a trigger that helps with that.

Oh, and it kind of looks like his: 🔫

While the gun doesn't explode or anything, it makes a loud BANG sound when you shoot, in most cases. Explosions are louder, though.

Oh, that makes more sense. I think I might have heard about something like that, but not in my country.

I'll walk out of the waterfall cavern and try to figure out in which direction the shot came from
