Yeah, you get me!

[ Konoka practically hopped in excitement. ]

I have unique relationships with pretty much everyone I've met here. And in a place like this, sex is more about culture than taboo. It's really fun!

Thinking about it like that, it feels a lot less selfish. I'd been thinking of seeing someone in a sexual way without there being anything romantic behind it as superficial and insulting, but now that I really consider it...I'd already realized that I don't mind people acknowledging me as attractive as long as I know it's not all they see of me.

I guess I've been kind of stuck thinking in terms of how selfish old men and obsessive, entitled fans act when it comes to physical attraction, and how it feels or looks to be on the receiving end of that kind of behavior. But I don't think people like that are really thinking about what their theoretical partner might like.

Believe it or not, I know that feeling.

Not nearly to the extent you speak of (are you famous back at home?), but... let's just say I regularly got pushed into arranged dates and generally just gave them the proverbial finger until my extended family got a clue.

The freedom to pursue what I want these days is pretty great... even if quite a bit of it weirdly goes in more submissive roles.

I'm a local celebrity in a big city. I'm not sure if I'd be considered famous outside of Tokyo, but...it's enough that a lot of people I've never met have some very unrealistic hopes, to say the least.

It pretty much ruined my chances of dating back home, since I didn't want to be with someone who was only interested in me for my reputation. Being here really has been freeing. I can even sit in the park and read without being interrupted by people who care more about getting to talk to the hot guy from TV than they do about whether or not I want to take time to talk to people.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm the granddaughter of my school's dean, so I guess I'd be a mild celebrity. And my dad is like head of a local magic association of my home. I apparently got known for having a lot of magic, which made me a target of a few shady people. But those days are pretty much gone.

But I guess fame is tough, no matter the scale. Prisma doesn't know or care about our homes, only what we do here. It's freeing.

I'm a prodigy detective, myself. I've gotten a lot of attention for succeeding at such a young age, and that led to people taking notice of my looks. These days, people seem to care more about how attractive I am than they do about the reason I wound up on TV in the first place.

Being away from all that is like a breath of fresh air. Even other Moonblessed, they either don't know about my fame back home, or they know there's more to me than that. The culture shock has been pretty bad, but it's otherwise felt almost like a vacation.

A famous detective? Cool! I didn't forget that you got me thinking about the things going on in the background.

[ Like keeping an eye on the government or murmurs of Basti. ]

What did you solve back at home?

With my kind of career, that sort of thing becomes second nature. You never know what might be more important than it seems.

I've worked on a variety of cases, everything from embezzlement to murder. I typically take on cases involving some sort of corruption, abuse of authority, or other scandal involving people in positions of power, since that's a subject I have very personal feelings about.

I see! Sounds tough!

It can be, but it's very rewarding.

And...I'm glad. I wouldn't want to have enjoyed myself, but disappointed my partner.

By the way, since things didn't turn out too awkward, we should talk about a study schedule.

Didn't you mention wanting some help studying things relevant to the Lunar Scientia, after I told you about the tower on Level 1?

I can't blame you for forgetting, we didn't exactly stay focused on it.

I manage to keep a fairly flexible schedule these days, since I'm mainly focusing on my own studies. I guess it's down to how often you want to meet up.

Sure! Let's meet once or twice a week to start! I'm getting busier these days, but I think it'll be fine!

Hmmm, I don't drink it that often, I've always been more of a tea girl.

But I'm open to try some, though!

If you've only ever had it made in a machine before, you probably don't know what it's supposed to taste like. Coffee made by hand is completely different.

Is that so?

[ Konoka's mildly surprised that there was such a difference. ]

So you know a good place that makes coffee by hand?

I do, actually. A friend from home recently opened a cafe, and he makes amazing coffee.
