He's not thrilled about their interaction but he has no room to tell people who not to hang out with.

You did, and thank you for being worried. But there's nothing to worry about, I was just curious if it's always intense during the moons.

Ah. I think it varies, but to be fair... I've also been using my Semblance against it.

Not magic. Abilities unique to people from my world. Mine specifically deals with emotions.

They did very little to her, but still!]

That sounds very useful when the moon hits you hard, Ren.

[Ren's are pretty much the exact opposite of Blue Diamond's, so no sudden tears happening here.]

It does help with the moons, yes, though there are downsides to the ability as well.

Besides the whole needing chroma to use it part?

[That's one thing Lapis will always be a grump about, her powers are a part of her so the chroma thing is just wrong.]

Semblance requires Aura anyway, so I'm used to there being a tradeoff. It's just... a three-way trade off now. [Chroma -> Aura -> Semblance.]

I can't say the way I unlocked my Semblance was pleasant, though.

It just seems... Strange to me. Everything a Gem can do they can just, do. No need for chroma or aura or anything other then a Gem being whole.

[She exhales a sigh now.]

That's just how Remnant is.

[He suspects it has something to do with the brother gods taking magic away from humans due to Salem's transgressions, but that's only speculation.]

Trauma, mainly. Grimm attacked my village. Since Grimm are attracted to negative emotions, it wound up being what saved Nora and I.

That is, unfortunately, how Remnant is. Places without any protection from Grimm will inevitably fall to them.

And it almost explains why the Mercury fellow is how he is.

I don't entirely know Mercury's history but I certainly can't imagine it was any better than Emerald's, or a lot of people who lived outside of the main kingdoms.

[But "almost" is probably correct.]

Not everyone is as lucky as Nora and I.

Only he knows, and I doubt he'd share it.

Well, I think everyone is lucky that you and your friend turned out okay after such a thing.

It's almost easier to deal with him not knowing what his Tragic Backstory (tm) is.]

There is a lot I still need to get better at.
