I know this is probably a bit of a stupid question, but I'm actually mildly curious. And you know what they say: 'curiosity killed the cat'.

So, my birthday is tomorrow and I'm turning eighteen, finally. . . To be honest, birthdays aren't as big of a deal, which is why I want to know if there's anything special that people do for their eighteenth? Or just birthdays in general.

I'm interested in how other worlds celebrate, after all.

What's so special about 18 specifically

In a lot of countries - not mine, though - the age of majority is eighteen. You're basically considered an 'adult' at that age.

when someone comes of age where i'm from you get a tattoo, but some of the islands a little ways off did these sick-ass scarification patterns instead

what pattern you get depends mostly on region and your family traditions too

but it's only kids that walk around blank

Does the location of the tattoo matter where you're from as well?

usually it's someplace visible

i got mine on my arms and most people in my town did the same

i'm not unfamiliar with people getting theirs on their backs though, lots of people wear backless stuff where i'm from or go around shirtless a lot

some regions even have it on the FACE

I'm not planning to get tattoos just in case I go home since there's a lot of stigma regarding tattoos back home.

Are people back home also tightwads about stuff being pierced? Because that would probably be a bit easier to hide.

A little, yeah.

It's not allowed in schools, and it's unprofessional at workplaces.
