I know this is probably a bit of a stupid question, but I'm actually mildly curious. And you know what they say: 'curiosity killed the cat'.

So, my birthday is tomorrow and I'm turning eighteen, finally. . . To be honest, birthdays aren't as big of a deal, which is why I want to know if there's anything special that people do for their eighteenth? Or just birthdays in general.

I'm interested in how other worlds celebrate, after all.

From what I heard, most people back home would probably just have a stupidly big party thrown for them or something when they turned eighteen.

Unless they're rich, then that's just something that happens every birthday.

[Not eighteen, but she has plenty of experience with large parties being thrown even if she didn't exactly want them. ]

A big party sounds crazy. . . I don't think I'd ever throw one so huge.

... Especially when you have them thrown for you when you don't really want them. But that's the only "turning eighteen" specific thing I can think of.

Yeah, well, my Dad didn't really see it that way. As far as he was concerned, we were famous so our birthdays needed to be events.

That said, not disagreeing with you. It really is stupid.

Yeah. Hopefully he'll be a little be better about it whenever I get back though. Some stuff changed recently... err, "recently", that might make him more willing to just let me do something smaller.

Of course, it's kinda a moot point if I don't get home before my next birthday.

Yeah, I do want to go back home. But I'll just have to wait and see if that happens or if the government actually figures out how to get all of us home.

[ The chances of anyone at home getting her back had run out a long time ago though, so it would have to be something here. ]

Honestly, I have no trust that the government would figure it out.

Honestly, neither do I. But at the very least they have a better chance of it than I do.

I want to figure things out on my own merit, though.

... I mean, I can kinda get that, but I'm not sure how actually feasible that is when travel to other planets/dimensions/whatever this place actually is is concerned. Even if you do know something about how all of that works.

... I'm pretty sure that learning whatever magic or whatever insane physics that would be needed to create a way home home are far above me. No matter how hard I try.

... That, or I'll figure it out, but we'd have spent enough time here that it isn't even worth
it to leave.
