Hello, network. My name is Juno! Very briefly I want to ask, but does anyone here like hunting, or building? Construction work? Now that I'm out of the military life, I have a lot of time on my hands. So I want to try new hobbies! Alas, these two aren't ones I can really enjoy on my own. I can't even find a good place that sells decent firearms! Please help me out, and maybe I can return the favor by trying out your hobby. So you won't have the be the only one!

Not yet, but I have a feeling I would need help in the future. It's become my goal to build a home for myself, you see! Not to say I dislike having neighbors in an apartment building, but having a home of my own is a different feeling. Does that makes sense?

Hm, well, I have hunted once in a while in the past, though I will say I am much more fond of fishing. Have you tried that? I find they are fairly similar pastimes, though I've always found fishing to be more relaxing.

Fishing? I never had much chances to do that in my homeland, we're always traveling! Hunting was easier in the mountains and plains we traveled in, and we had firearms. I tried handfishing and spearfishing at rivers and streams before, or with nets! I remember catching salmon as they come from the ocean and into the rivers, there were so many of them that I managed to get a lot for the entire platoon!

[ Her enthusiasm had her add that last bit, though unnecessary. Setheth's mention of fishing just brought back some happy memories that she's actually excited about trying fishing again ]

Ah, yes, it’s much easier to hunt in those particular scenarios, especially if you’re with an army. Outside of what you have done in the past with nets, it is far more difficult to support your battalion through fishing alone. Personally, I’ve generally considered it more of a peacetime activity, or at the very least something to be done when things are quiet.

There are quite a few of us who have that sort of background here, actually. I imagine if you ask around you could easily find people who relate... though, it is certainly a large enough city that you may still have a bit of difficulty finding people you have things in common with.

I would be happy to help, yes. I am still getting my footing with it here myself, but fortunately, there are people at the local fisheries who are patient with newcomers.At the very least, I can show you around and give you some helpful tips.

In any case, I am at Crystal Beach’s fisheries most evenings when the weather is good, though I haven’t been there as often now that the weather is getting colder. They do let you rent gear, so I would advise doing that and buying your own equipment if you decide you enjoy it:

I never used one. Alas, I lived in the age of firearms and tanks that bows have long been relegated to sporting use.

Which looks to be the same situation here. The only bows I've seen are for target practice.

I dunno how anybody hunts with that flashy stuff. They're loud as hell. Shoot a gun once and it scares off all the game in the vicinity.

Well, bring one of those target practice bows to this place. You might be able to do something with it.

Neither am I. The bows I've seen in this world have strange pulleys on either end of the arch, which is strange. I doubt that I could use a normal bow, let alone these strange ones properly

But that is true, I could look for a chance to work in construction, alas I already have a job. It's not something I wish to do for a living, so I considered it a hobby

Oh well I don't plan to hurt other creatures for just a simple thrill. I am just aware that some can be destructive, like herds of wild boars that ruin patches of forest. That's what I intend to hunt down. They can multiply really quick!
