Y'know, going up in space, visiting other worlds is supposed to blow your damn mind. The idea's that you're exposed to stuff so unreal, so beyond believin' that it's alien to you.

So why exactly are we celebratin' Christmas in space? Feels kinda weird, to be honest. But I guess capitalism and commercialism is a universal concept.

Still, though. Kinda gets me thinkin'. How do you celebrate your holidays where you're from? Don't tell me about Christmas though. We all know about Christmas.

I'll admit, I wasn't certain if I would do anything this year. I had no desire, no one familiar. My family is long gone, even if I were home.

But I would like to at least show gratitude to those who would call me friend. Holiday or not, perhaps you will find the same in time.

Arriving in an alien world wasn't a shock to you?

Arriving in an alien world where they still put up Christmas trees and host ballet shows isn't what I'd call Asimov at work.

[ a nonchalant shrug. ]

I mean, there is a lot, but this stuff feels very generic and human.

I suppose you have a point. For me, a lot of the impressions are perhaps more detailed. To many, I come from the past.

Not on me, unfortunately. But I figured with all the people from Earth, there's bound to be some kind of information repository. A collective.

[ every society needs one, even an alien one. and having people from earth means there'll be stuff from earth here as well. erik's very good at deconstructing a society at a glance. ]

Fair enough. I wouldn't be surprised if someone had a collection.
