Okay so... I've been thinking of doing this for a bit now.

But anytime I mention that I'm a Gem I usually have to explain things to people so I thought "Why not make a network thing that anyone can come and ask me things"? So, yeah.

I'm a Gem, like the stones, ask me things?

Oh no, nothing like that. My form is a... Hm, projection of light with mass. And then there is my Gem which is kind of like a core, in that if it's damaged then I'd be in big trouble.

Light projection...? Like a hologram, then -- and your Gem being something of an emitter. That right?

Basically, yeah that. It also means that our forms can be easily changed or adapted to different worlds.

Does that make you a type of AI or something?

Other questions...? [She pauses, and then:] What was your function -- or job, or whatever it is you did?

Job is... Probably the best word for it.

[She clears her throat.]

Lapis Lazulis were used to terraform planets for colonization.

[And that's by far more impressive than most things Rey knows people can do.]

Shit, seriously? You can modify whole planets for habitation?

[A nervous chuckle from her, because really it's the opposite.]

More like... Destroyed planets then modified them.

[There's no judgement or disappointment in her tone. Lapis might as well have just told her that her favorite color was puce.]

Seems a little ass backwards, but all right. You mentioned colonization, so just assumed...

Well, Gem Colonies are made more for the creation of more Gems. At least how I remember it, it's been a good long while since I did any of it.

[May as well explain it as best as she can, right?]

Lost the taste for destroying planets now, have you?

[Again, no judgement. Rey's done plenty of destruction to the world, herself. While she has no qualms killing if she ever feels she has to, she'd rather put the joy a couple of her past selves had in it behind her. Gone but not forgotten.]

So what do you do now, instead of your original f-- job?

Well, I was a farmer for a bit but now I guess I'm an artist?

[Moving on though, since clearly that's a sore topic that even Rey catches the hint.]

Artist? For real? Like, with paint and shit?

[Eh, it's not a touchy subject, just a subject. And Lapis would rather people just be straightforward with it then beat around the bush.]

Mostly I just use stuff that's laying around, but yeah. I haven't made anything great though.

Have tries making some things as well, but nothing Michaelangelo-worthy. Mostly boredom-induced doodles and the like. Have heard art can be therapeutic or something.

Nothing wrong with trying, as long as you like it that's really all that matters.

So, you get any fulfillment out of it? Trying, that is. Doing different things like that.

Yes? I mean I have fun and even if it turns out badly at least I attempted something new. Also, I can find out if I like the thing or not by trying.

Doesn't sound too far off from what you're doing before, in a way. Only instead of molding planets, you're molding art.
