Okay so... I've been thinking of doing this for a bit now.

But anytime I mention that I'm a Gem I usually have to explain things to people so I thought "Why not make a network thing that anyone can come and ask me things"? So, yeah.

I must disagree! Lapis lazuli is extremely "fancy", as you put it.

In the Renaissance era, it was highly coveted by painters, who would have it ground into ultramarine pigment to create the richest and most vivid of blue hues.

Not at all. Ultramarine depicts holiness, humility, chastity... It has been used to bring magnificent colour to the robes of Virgin Mary in countless altarpieces, or to great classical figures such as Ariadne in Titian's "Bacchus and Ariadne".

Of course, nowadays ultramarine can be created through synthetic means, so it is no longer so coveted or expensive.

That's my friend who I was talking about, by the way. I'm sorry if he ends up coming up as...rude, he really doesn't mean any harm.

He's been raised as an artist all of his life and sometimes what we would consider common sense is an alien concept to him. But his heart is in the right place, I promise.

Oh, no I'm not unique. Lapis Lazulis are, or were, needed to terraform planets so there are a good number of us around.

I like to think that sometimes he's an old man stuck in the body of a teenager, and I mean that in the best of ways. I think it's partly because of how he was raised...he didn't get to interact with others quite the same and his mind was mostly dedicated to art.

He's one of my best friends.

He seems like he'd be a very very interesting best friend to have.
