okay so lunatian holidays are pretty strange but if it's been about half a week since "firialia eve" then it's got to be getting close to the end of the year, right. i mean assuming that the holidays here are kind of analogous to the ones that i remember which i guess is just an assumption but it seems like it holds up.
it's kind of weird to be reliving the same two months over again. it was january when i got pulled here and now if i'm right it's about to be "january" again. i think i've been here about thirty days now too which just makes it even crazier. i know it's probably just coincidence but it's still one hell of a coincidence.
anyway.
we didn't do all the new year's traditions and stuff the first time i lived through these past couple weeks because we weren't home so we couldn't. but there's stuff that people do, right. like cleaning the house and ringing the bells and getting up to watch the sunrise and going to shrines and everything. i guess in the west people make a resolution to change for the better in the new year. everybody just thinks about it like a fresh start. leave behind the old and move forward into the new. have a long life.
people keep telling me i should quit smoking. seems like kind of a really minor thing to change but maybe i will, i don't know.
if you were going to change something about yourself in the new year what would you change?
you don't have to attach your name to it if you don't want to. i'm just wondering what kinds of things people have been thinking about lately. or maybe i'm the only one thinking about it, i don't know.

Don't know. I'm critical of myself, but I guess the only thing I'd change is to try to relax a little more.
"Stop and smell the roses," so to speak.
And stop smoking.
no subject
my mom did but i think that's a habit left over from growing up in new york
yeah i agree you should really stop smoking
i hear it's bad for you

People usually go for big things, but I think small ones can be nice.
I'll make one if you do. :)
It is. It can cause lung cancer.
My partner does sometimes, but he's borderline quit since the 90s.
Get pissed when he does now, but sometimes you have to let yourself have a vice.

So only change if you really want it, not because someone else wants you to.

In my tribe, we just wish to do better than the last turn of the year. Forcing yourself to do something you don't want to will just make you relapse.
It's better to be realistic.
no subject
i mean i guess the point would be don't make unrealistic resolutions, right
but i think if it's important
like really important
you can probably do it even if you don't really want to
no subject
Not just when the turn is over.
Do you think you'll be able to quit smoking now that you've thought about it?

I mean to say that it would probably be more fun if the others were still here, and not me, but if you like, we can celebrate whatever traditions you'd like to, together. And we can have some candles there, too. For them. For me, if you still think that's a thing you'd like to do. I don't mind.
But I'd like to celebrate a new year with you. And I'll make us mochi together, and soba. If you'd like! That probably sounds a little silly, haha!

what the hell avdol
why would you think i would have more fun with anyone else
don't be such an idiot
tell your boyfriend i'm borrowing you for one day
you and me for the new year
no subject
Any traditions you had in mind? I'll take care of the cooking, though if you have anything you want to add to the toshikoshi soba, let me know. We'll make up for the lost new year.
