[Perne has chosen to address the happenstance (i.e., being in Lunatia) with a great deal of professionalism. At least, as much as she can muster given the situation. Her device is propped up on a very standard table in what is likely her apartment. She sits in front of it, posture prim and proper.
Evidently she has been bracing herself for this particular conversation and even if she's not confident in having it, her tone remains even. Again, professionalism. Or at least the closest thing to it.]
It is to mine knowledge that this 'network' is capable of reaching all of those possessing the same device—in short, those of us referred to as Moonblessed individuals.
Some of you I have already had the esteemed privilege to meet. For those of you with whom I am not yet acquainted, I am Lady Perne de Archevauliere. Simply 'Perne' shall suffice if you have need to address me by name.
[Her posture is already straight, but it doesn't stop her from trying to straighten up even more. Her hands linger beneath the table, undoubtedly betraying her fidgeting as a means to keep such from creeping into her relatively stern expression.]
I have been adequately informed on the situation at hand facing all of us in the same role. Given the nature of this place, its currency and its resource, I have an interest in making an accord. That is to say, I am seeking voluntary candidates for this 'Moonlacing' that must needs occur. I have no interest in informal or inappropriate proceedings under such pretences. As such, mine standards for who I will accept will need to be met in full and to mine satisfaction before I shall consider any such agreement or accord to be in effect.
You may meet with me in person if you care to and do not trust me via visual. Mine requirements do not, however, require this to be part of the initial process.
[She might as well be hiring for a job with the way she discusses it. Who knows. Maybe she'll lighten up in time, but considering how stubborn and bullheaded she can sometimes be... mayhaps not.]

...are you an elezen or elf?
[ The miqo'te on the screen looks curious, watching her with amusement in her eyes but a calm expression. ]
I promise this has a purpose.
no subject
How many is that from Eorzea now...? Regardless, Megumi's pointed question does cause Perne to pause, if only because she's trying to properly decipher what the difference might be between the two. Others have certainly mistaken her for elven, so there must be some appearance similarities.]
The former. [She replies with a tip of her head.] Although I have yet to correct anyone who has defined mine people otherwise. [...Because at the end of the day, does it really matter what others think she is? No. Not especially.]
no subject
Going to take a guess and say you're Ishgardian, as well? You sound different than the ones I've had to deal with in Gridania.
[ She pays attention! But she does smile and give her a wave. ]
Well met then, lass. Found any assistance for your needs yet?
no subject
[Says the very rigid, haughty, and pretentious Ishgardian who has no idea how to not be any of those things because that's all she's ever been. Although she has to take Megumi at her word because Perne's never met an Elezen who wasn't Ishgardian. It doesn't surprise her that Twelveswood kin would carry themselves differently.]
Well met, Miss. [She's polite, though. Perne likes that. But to be fair, the most polite people she's met to date in Lunatia have been the people from Eorzea. That's almost ironic. It really says something about the world they're from in comparison to those around them here.]
'Tis a simple screening process. I would not say I feel particularly confident about any of them, however. [Likely because she trusts absolutely no one and holds standards that are likely to be particularly unpleasant from a sociable point of view. But no one ever accused Ishgard of being welcoming.]
no subject
[ Something tells her this poor miss wouldn't last a single sun around Ul'dah. She does glance at the replies she's gotten, though. ]
I can see why you'd think otherwise, though. Recently arrived too, I take it? What's the last thing you recall from back home, then?
no subject
Hm...
[There's a long pause and Perne poises hand to her chin before she gives voice to her thoughts.]
The Dragonsong War ended not too distantly. I suppose one could say there is social evolution that must needs be done to expect a proper adaptation as a result. [Needless to say she knows nothing about anything going on outside of the Holy See.]
no subject
Not too distantly? It's been quite a while for myself. Then again, I only happened to visit Ishgard myself after it opened its doors. Last I recall is adventurers flooding in after they began a call for aid for reconstruction.
[ She meets her gaze though, as best as she can through the screen. ]
Any of that sound familiar?
no subject
[And she remembers being under lock and key through most of it because someone - and we won't say who - has a penchant for getting into conflict, which is evidently not becoming for someone in that station.]
The Holy See finally acknowledged that it required outside assistance. I never imagined they would do any such thing. Rather, it seemed a small, but necessary step in social reconstruction.
[She pauses and returns her attention onto Megumi as her posture straightens once more.]
You have not seen Ishgard since then? I should think She ought to be making way for providence. If one can overlook older families and their older traditions. She has so very far to go.
no subject
Aye, had my own situation to attend to. Though I did have some of my girls go over to help as much as they could. They hate the cold, but it's doing some good.
[ Oh— ]
Name's Megumi, Matriarch of the Utakata Tribe. Don't think it means much, but I've been on Lunatia for over ten moons now. And another place before it, actually... bit of a traveling adventurer myself, you could say.
[ A friendly wiggle of her ears follows— ]
You're so well-spoken. [ An appreciative remark— she herself sounds like a commoner but her speech has its own polish. She has picked up a lot during her time traveling and reading. ] Been making a lot of guesses about you, but you sound like some of the nobility I've had to treat! Are you a noble, then?
no subject
Miss Megumi then. Well met.
[Because a proper introduction deserves a proper greeting. She even dips her head respectfully.
It's a compliment, the one about her speech, though for Perne, it's simply a way of life. In consequence, she isn't sure how to take it. Her head tilts curiously, transparently cycling through the various ways she can respond before she manages to do so.]
Again, an accurate assessment, though I feel it important to stress that it is under the proverbial cloak of minor nobility. Mine family is no one of importance and I cannot imagine any of the names would be particularly well-known.
[Or so she hopes, anyroad.]
no subject
[ Her ears give a light flick, still rather amused— mostly because there's the temptation to tease and were she but two turns younger, she'd have done it. But there are a few things she has picked up from her ex-husband at the very least... ]
Doubt I'd know your family as well. Most of the Ishgardians I've met have been patients of mine, and they've been far from home. Aside from a few— anyroad. So what's your story? Are you an adventurer?
no subject
She shifts where she sits. It's not oft that she has questions asked of her. Rather, none that are not for some 'grander' purpose that will benefit family or whatever social expectations that are placed against her. Perne has never been particularly good at speaking about herself or speaking at all. It's easier in the Holy See to simply ask a question because everyone else there loves to talk about themselves.
You jest, she thinks. An adventurer—me? Hardly.]
Nay. Naught of the sort. I confess I have no story for you. I am of Ishgard and She is of me. I suppose I would call mineself a patron of the arts. I am afraid if you somehow think too grandly of me, you will find yourself disappointed.
no subject
[ She looks curious. ]
You're not a Warrior of Light, either? There are plenty of folks claiming so around here, but if you're not an adventurer... have you ever encountered your own Warrior of Light, then?
no subject
Thankfully Megumi diverts her attention and she shakes her head.]
Nay, on either account. In spite of that, however, I have heard the tales of the Warrior of Light and the things they have done for the Holy See. I should like to meet them one day for mineself to see if they are as grandiose as the stories do tell. [In short, Perne's barely been able to leave an estate and the stories she hears are more like rumours given to sceptical ears.] It seems I shall have just such an ability whilst I am here.
no subject
[ And the second time was when she saw them running around Gridania with Prince Noctis, as she later confirmed in the papers. ]
Sort of refreshing, to be honest. Meeting someone from home that isn't a Warrior of Light or someone they know. So, were you simply going to support that opera house, then?
no subject
I cannot imagine the Warrior of Light to be much of complaint, all things considered. They are rather renowned, are they not? I suspect they are requested to do many things oft enough. [Mayhaps they make complaint in secret. She doubts she could so altruistic herself and no amount of diplomacy could keep her silent forever.
At Megumi's question, she nods.]
Aye, that is so. It was mine intention. I suppose Master Torchier might have thought it better to give idle hands something to do and he offered me to stay at the opera house as a member. It was a compelling offer and difficult to decline.
[And freedom is a lovely idea. Even a short-lived freedom.]
no subject
[ But that's a given for the Warriors of Light, isn't it? Though, Torchier... maybe she's heard that name, maybe not. She's met far too many people and heard so many names in her adventures, even someone with a wonderful memory like hers can take a while to process them all. ]
I hope you didn't decline, then! An opera house sounds exciting to work with. When we were in Hingashi, a troupe showed up there on a large airship! They were Garlean, and runaways from the Empire, and they performed some wonderful stories! Ever heard of the Majestic Theater Company?
no subject
Perne issues another nod as she folds her hands together and she relaxes only ever in slight.]
I found no reason to immediately reject such courtesy. [It takes her some moments of thought to consider if she was familiar with the troupe in question. She was almost certain she had heard of it in passing, though... Most of what she knew of Othard came from books, though there was a significant lack of that available to her and thus her information remains incredibly sparse. It's a place. It exists. That's about it.] The name sounds familiar, though I cannot claim to be particularly knowledgeable. I am afraid I know little about happenstances across the water.
no subject
[ Her ears flick playfully, smiling. ]
Didn't get out much, did you? Suppose you've got your reasons for hiding it, but it sounds like you've probably been through either a lot- or not a lot at all!
[ She's guessing, again. ]
Stage is yours then, Perne, was it? How'd you end up as you are, then?
no subject
[Her gaze moves onto Megumi's ears again. While she might be capable of moving hers ever in slight, Megumi is far more impressive. And endearing, at that.] As for... Well. One could certainly say that. Mine responsibilities have prevented me from being as worldly as others would likely be. [More like, her penchant for getting into situations she shouldn't have implied that she is a danger to her family name and is not trustworthy to be left to her own devices.]
If you mean how I came to be here, I could hardly say. I have no justifiable reason for mine presence in this realm. Otherwise, aside from mine excursion to Limsa to meet with Master Torchier, mine life has been restricted to the Holy See and its embraced region.
no subject
[ She does note the attention she's giving her ears but she isn't about to stop her from looking, her ears are cute and ready to be admired! ]
no subject
[Caveats applied, naturally, but Perne doesn't seem inclined to offer that information.]
I suppose they assumed pursuit of music would be a safer alternative than adventuring or other travelling, as it were. [Or prodding into Inquisition and heretical affairs.]
no subject
[ She winks. ]
Speaking of spicing things up, is there a reason you're being so particular about your partners? Have anyone back home?
no subject
[She is plenty a rebel. Or has been and the repercussions for such have been grandiose in nature. Beneath a resigned facade remains a heart burning with desire for revolution, reformation, and change.
Megumi's follow up and inquiry into her personal affairs where partners are concerned is... Well. An awkward one. Perne tenses, even if she doesn't wish to. She suspects that will never change about her.]
I have standards, as is mine right. As I have no interest in any partners at all, it becomes a necessary evil. Thus if I have little alternative, then I shall acquiesce on mine terms. I will not settle simply because this world may expect that of me.
no subject
She ends up chuckling. ]
That's a rough situation to be in, lass. Though I've known a few of my own maidens who don't enjoy intimacy and prefer affections beyond just physical ones. Not one to avoid it, myself, but.
[ Her ears flick back and forth. ]
You didn't answer if you'd anyone back home, though.
