[It took him about forty minutes to decide on a username and then try and post to the network. Of course, it was probably better to just be anonymous, but that felt like being too much of a coward. Still, he couldn't really avoid it anymore, he had already secluded himself away for a month. Without work to force him out, it was all getting too difficult.]
I'm sorry to intrude on any discussions. I was wondering if there are different ways to generate an income here other than through physical contact. Are there ways to pay for things without needing to touch another person?
It seems that those methods are very important to the people here, but, there must be alternatives, right?
Thank you.

[He was almost relieved to see that.]
Are there placement agencies or recruitment fairs here? I'm afraid I haven't really been able to look around recently. The weather became bad almost immediately after I arrived.
[He also was afraid of potential crowds in a world he didn't understand yet.]

Honestly, I have no idea. I know a lot of people here hire if you just check on old posts? And probably just asking if someone's hiring would help, too.

[Picturing a library, where he has to put books away other people touched leaves him feeling like all the blood was draining out of him as he typed. It wasn't like he could just say what his potential issues where though.]

What are you really looking for though? Books is just an example, there's all kinds of things out there. You're a Moonblessed. As long as what you're wanting to do isn't dangerous, a number of people will hire you just to exist and help draw in business for the novelty.
Can you cook? Or handle calling on the phone?

That isn't it.
[Thankfully this was text and he could think of all of his replies ahead of time.]
You make a good point of offering services to those who require them though.

I just received the ping on my device from Dave— I promise he has two hands of his own in case he made it sound otherwise. 🤭
He already introduced me, but I'm Angela, a doctor with the clinic here on level 2, on the beachfront. I may not have an adequate solution no matter how much hope he may have in me, but may I ask a couple of questions regardless?
First, you're aware of the "chroma" energy of this place, I assume? I know the initial lecture they give is quite complicated and it's a lot of information to take in on arrival, so I want to be sure you understand that there is a bit of a difference between our incomes and the actual risks of avoiding contact. We're given significant payment in exchange for our ability to filter the world's energy source, here. "Chroma". I think I explained it once before as being like a solar panel, if you understand that technology.
The currency that you can earn as a typical salary is one thing, certainly, if not as handsome a figure as what we're given in exchange for the energy we're channeling into the city, but we also have to maintain a certain amount of that energy within ourselves to keep from crystallizing. It is... not a nice way to pass on. One can be revived from this state with the technology of this world, but it takes time and a toll on one's body and mind.
That is why "moonlacing", or the physical contact one requires to generate that chroma, is so important. If you're touch-averse for any particular reason, I can understand the difficulty for this. And you wouldn't be the first I've met here; I'm actively trying to assist someone in overcoming that already, actually. But if you're only searching for a job to spend your days and earn a little extra spending money, I'm sure there are plenty of places you can work without needing to come into contact with others. There are a number of cafes and shops you can work in, or restaurants, or even little businesses like mine. I certainly wouldn't mind a hand in managing the laundry here or keeping supplies stocked.

If it were a life or death situation could he...?
It was impossible. He was years away from being able to touch anyone besides Kurose, he was sure of it!
He could feel the anxiety growing, the tightness in his chest and the desire to curl up and shut out the world rose up quickly.
Due to this flood of anxiety written terror it took him a long time to properly compose a reasonable reply, trying his best to choose the most appropriate words in a practiced business manner.]
Thank you for clarifying that. It is indeed true that I was a bit misinformed on the matter. It is quite a lot to take in at first, and, I have not really spoken to anyone in the month I have been here. It has been a bit of an adjustment to say the least.
You mentioned that without “moonlacing” that death is ultimate, how long would it take for such a thing to happen?
[How close to death was he already!? Why was he thrown into this hell!?]
😭 babey boye she's sorry
I'm sorry to hear you've not had much chance to speak with others. Is there no one you knew from home, here?
As for the crystallization... I'm afraid it's different for everyone. Some people burn through chroma quicker than others. Sometimes it depends on the lunar cycles we're inherently tied into. The second, blue moon, seems to take the most. I'd say on average, perhaps around two months.
There is a monitor on the device we're given that will start to alert you when you're in the red, and chime when it's getting to concerning levels before the crystallization starts. It's a bit of a slow process, maybe a couple of days? I've never seen it get much worse than a bit of faceting on someone's shoulder and their fingertips, in two extreme cases around the same time. We assisted in the growth of another species' young and it drained us fairly quickly.
Are there any methods or approaches where you have felt more comfortable in touching others...? Maybe if you're the only one to instigate, and they don't reciprocate? Or just after bathing, or through massage...
( His reply seems to make it clear enough to her that he's touch-averse, as she suspected, though she doesn't know to what extent or why. )

But, isn't it difficult to just, touch people randomly?

Sorry if this is really intrusive, but I'm getting the vibe that you're not keen on physical contact.

There's plenty of ways for sure! It depends on...what you want to do though, or what you're good at? Oh, or, maybe a hobby you might like to try here?
[ New place, new beginnings, and all that ]
I...don't like all the physical contact either if it's any consolation.

I think I was misunderstanding some situations, and, contact with others really is required.
[He had no idea how to rectify this problem, could he be forced into it in some way?]

It's annoying, really, but at least picking up a job and making Demichroma helps a little.

I recommend supplementing with platonic means of obtaining chroma, such as headpatting and sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with someone who isn't going to be a pain about it, particularly if you are aligned with Cordis.
[ Cordis runs through your chroma really fast, otherwise Midorima would've lasted a lot longer not touching anyone. ]
