I see. Yes, I do. Written exams were common for mages in training. I had to demonstrate the spells afterwards, but first I had to write down the theory and illustrate the magic symbols. I should clarify, however, that studying is different when you're passionate about the subject.

[To be fair, Meteora has amazing memory in general, so studying anything isn't a problem for her. But she's trying to sound encouraging here! XX shouldn't feel bad about not having experience with exams!]

Ah, so there is magic from where you come from? [ curious but not pressing the issue] Were you not passionate about it? I am eager to help people here, a written exam is no great hardship if it will help me achieve that goal.

Yes, I'm a mage. I specialize in support magic. But I worded my point poorly - I was very passionate about it. I earned my title as the Sage of the Thoursand Miles and I'm extremely proud of it. But it's not the same for everyone - some times a subject that comes off as dense and boring is a necessary topic for certain professions. Some people are better at practical exercises than at long exposition. I was trying to say that my experience shouldn't be an example, and you shouldn't feel bad if a written exam makes you nervous.

That said, your wish to help is strong. So I'm sure you'll do just fine with your exams.
