Hey, magic knowledgeable people, how possible is it on a scale of 1 to 100 that people who have a part of what used to be your body (nail clippings, hair, blood, antlers, scales, fur, feathers) could work some kind of magic on you, specifically, with it?

I mean, more how likely do you think it is that people here can do that? Especially as more Chroma's being absorbed back into the world.

With blood it's possible, but in my experience names are much more potent things to work magic with. As far as I can tell that doesn't seem to be as much of an issue in this world as it is where I'm from, but caution never hurts.

I don't know that it is so far... but maybe there is a form of magic here that also relies on names? In which case if we didn't all lie on intake we're kind of messed over.

I'm not saying for sure that such magic exists here like it does in my world, but given everything we've seen possible so far it can't be discounted.

And if it does you're right that it probably wouldn't bode well for most of us.

Say if someone does have your name. Where you're from, are they ways of preventing them from messing with you as much as they want to?

There's no guarantee to say for sure.

Well not telling someone your true name is the only way, really- without that information then someone can't corrupt it.

This might be one of those things I just don't get, but a true name is what, the one our parents or someone like that gives us? Because then there's always someone who knows, and you never had control over that anyway.

Which is to say, what can we even do here if someone does have name magic? What if they have name magic for whatever name we use for ourselves? I don't know that limiting it to being "true" from birth or not would matter in that case... ugh, this is such a headache!

Well if it's any consolation I don't think that it will be a problem here... Or at least if it does exist it's not in the way I'm familiar with it.

Of course that could be either better or worse, depending on how you look at it.
