I'm looking for my -- [ "leaf," wait -- no one but her and Lewin has any inkling what the hell that means, so, and smoothly for all that she sounds more than less on the urgent side ] -- Lightning. Iris... really gets away with him.

[ As though that explains everything. She glances at the camera. Her hair is utterly windswept, some of the feathers in it dancing as she walks the streets, her steps brisk, purposeful. Her nose? Red. She's been out for a while now, the black feathers of her collar tugged snug against her neck. Straight to the chase. ]

If you're from Earth, you may recognize him as American. Mm, he's about [ please hold, she's crunching this in her head ] one hundred and seventy-seven centimeters. [ She's certain. ] He's --

[ Here, that's what her hand says as she grinds to a halt and tugs the camera back so her audience can see. She makes an even cut through the air above and beside her, like she knows exactly where, how he fits with her. Like that helps anyone figure out anything other than the fact that she's short if they're attentive to her height against background details. ]

-- this tall, but he's not bulky or too slight. [ And she's stepping again, talking as she turns an ear in listening and scans the area with keen eyes. Holding little things back. ]

You might not be able to tell because he dresses like a hobo. I'm not exaggerating. There's holes and stains in his clothes and he doesn't care about fashion at all. Tee shirts, capris, boots -- you can find him in layers sometimes and his shoes won't be clean. If they are, it's not him.

He has... so much black hair and it's always so messy. [ But it doesn't sound like she minds? ] It's always in front of his eyes, so you can't see them most of the time. [ A glance. Look. ] I cannot emphasize how messy it is. It looks like he hasn't brushed it in a week, maybe ever. [ She's gesturing with her free hand, outlining a shape at her head now. ] Iris gives him these... bat ears. They're huge, about as big as his head put together, and they stick out a bit, like this. They're really furry! [ Who's excited? Fond?? Sobering a little. ] He's usually got this big smile or a grin on his face that'll show off a mouth full of pointy teeth now. His voice is a lot like his expression. It's big, real cheerful with a thick accent, Texan if that means anything to you. That twang is distinct from anything around here. [ She's fond. Oh! ] And he's got stubble. His face is unshaven, but there's no substantial mustache or beard. [ Yet. ]

Has anyone seen him? [ She gives the camera her full attention now, exhales a small cloud of white. Please, if you've seen her idiot hobo... ]

[Without missing a beat, Ranpo slips on his glasses and flashes a grin at the screen. Just ignore the fact that he's wearing a bathrobe okay, it detracts from the dramatic effect.]

[ She cants her head just so, wondering for a moment at the addition of the glasses and that grin as she looks at the man on her screen. Is he... that concerned about fashion at a time like this? He's in a bathrobe, but, well, she's put a pin in and overlooked more. Talking in that manner, he's certainly got her attention, enough that she grinds to a dead halt where she'd been walking so intently. ]

[He pushes his glasses up, activating his Ultra Deduction Ability™--]

[By which I mean he carefully leans over to turn on a nearby fan for dramatic effect.]

[And thus, he pans the camera behind him, showing Lightning all sprawled out in Ranpo's bed, artfully censored with a blanket and no doubt sleeping off an Iris-induced post-sex coma.]

[ What is happening here? She blinks in following his every movement, hanging carefully on every word, supernaturally keen eyes and ears tuned precisely, intently. Her head tilts a little more to the same side, even, not unlike a bird in watching, gazing, a brow quirking. It's when he pushes those glasses up that she recalls his screen name and starts to wonder only to pause. Is that... the sound of air blowing? She trusts her ears, she's leaning forward, and -- ]

[ -- and there's that split second where she exhales and the tension visibly leaves her before her whole body perks and her expression peels into a sort of excited relief. ]

So he is!

[ Somewhere, reasonably safe probably, sleeping like a baby while she's freezing looking for him, naturally, but "here" with someone passed out is better than being led around by his dick in the damned street. ]

[ Don't mind her, just reining herself back in. Let's breeze past that whole thing she just did. She's composed, really, and thinking as she goes. Was this a hypothetical she'd considered at some point? Yes, just one with too many variables to pin down beyond vague steps and gesturing. Case in point. ]

A master detective, you said? You certainly work quickly. I'd apologize for any trouble he's caused you, but it seems like you took good care of him, hm?

[She can breeze past it all she wants, but the ever perceptive eyes of Edogawa Ranpo see all.]

What can I say? It's a gift. [This could easily be in reference to either statement.]

But you're not kidding about Iris getting away with him! This is the second time he's stumbled into here and I'm only now learning his name. Lightning, huh?

[ Hm. ]

[ That's the name Lewin opted to use for his username on that a/s/l broadcast of his and that's the one she'll stick to. This person's username, it lines up and she sounds... unsurprised, really. ]

I suppose I could have included a bit about Lightning-kun's manners, but if you haven't met him, then...

[ A simple gesture. He'll follow, right? And... a glance, a sigh. On second thought, at least give a guy a name to scream, Lewin. He's not supposed to get that from her?? Although some part of her hopes he puts it to good use some kind of way after all this. ]

I can definitely do sweets, but... are you Iris, too?

[ Does she sound almost hopeful? Say yes, Ranpo. Say yes and let her casually drown the beginnings of a certain familiar nervousness she feels vaguely stirring because that tail looks an awful lot like it belongs to a certain furry species. ]

[But he knows why she's asking, and he holds the camera out further to include the pair of kitty ears atop his head.]

[ That's what windows and snacks are for, not that she won't be quick. She's a little hungry herself after all her searching and she already has a place, maybe two to raid in mind along the way. It'll give her a moment to properly pull herself together. It's not like Ranpo's going to pounce and eat her. He's not even a full cat, he's... a cat boy! That's like... forty percent cat, isn't it? [ It's worse in person because, of course, he's taller than her by a good three, no four inches? She knows that sound rather intimately since Cordis decided to 'bless' her with that capability just this past cycle, too. Is there such a thing as ghost purrs? She feels it. She still hasn't adjusted to the absence of her ears and tail and the lack is a disparity that makes the hair on the back of her neck stand and the feathers in her hair rise just so with it. She needed an exorcist so many seconds ago.

Oh, wait! The nearest one has already been defeated by this cat boy and a horny, incarnating lunar god.

It's fine. It's not like his tail is swerving or he's wiggling his butt, right? She may actually be using her peripheral to check for all of .03 seconds before mentally commanding herself to knock it off. He's the picture of comfort and she's not picking up any hostility. Purring's... good, like the bag of burgers and fries she's holding in one hand and also the large bag tucked safely in her arm that smells distinctly of sweets, right?

Are there a few cans of brand name coke tucked in her pockets for Lewin? Probably. ]

Right again! He's... been out for a while. [ Sigh. ] I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long, at least.
