There was a small fire in the kitchen. It has been extinguished, but this noise will not stop. Please advise.

They're there to keep you safe in case the place was actually like... on fire. Like a full on fire. But if you have it under control, it's fine like that.

Well...it will help alert you to get out. In an apartment, it will alert your neighbors. The fire department will come and help put out the fire, too.

I am told it is a smoke alarm and is supposed to signal for help. I do not think it works properly. No help arrived.

You have to open all the windows and get the smoke out. Otherwise the smoke alarm won't stop.

All of them will help it air out more. The noise is from the alarm that will go on as long as there is smoke in the air.

If you take a towel and wave it around it should help a bit too. You would want to wave it at this though.

Ok so, if ya can get it off the wall, there should be a lil' panel onna back, and you take that off, and the battery's a little metal box thing inside of that.

[Scout shrugs, finger still in his ear.] Or it'll look like a lil' button or maybe a coupla lil' tubes. Anyway, ya pull that out, it stops makin' noise.

Or you could just pull the wires out. That'll shut it up, too.

[incidentally, it also stops functioning as a fire alarm, and a modern home has a number of things that can spark, causing items to combust, which is why that device is there in the FIRST place.

But Scout's the king of terrible advice, so. This is what you get. Sorry, fam.]

(( That's a lot of instructions on top of the noise. He sets down the communications device to attempt removing the shrieking device from the wall. There are some perks to being as tall as he is and, in this instance, it's that he can reach the smoke alarm with ease. A little more fiddling and he has the back open and he pries out the only thing that could possibly be 'the battery.' Lo and behold! The sound stops, much to Song Lan's great relief. ))

[There's a glint in his eye that flashes, and he slips into a forcibly casual manner, rubbing at his nose and glancing off-camera for a second.]
